EV general discussion

I am going to leave this here:

A car you can buy used with less than 10,000 miles for sub £20,000 that destroys supercars at street legal speeds. Can't see the e308GTI being able to do that.

Being a base model MG4 owner the handling is very good in that car. It is very fun to drive.

OK I will leave this here too:

Whilst I’m sure it’s reasonably competent and you clearly like it, based on looks alone, I hate it. :)

Arguing over whether an MG or a Peugeot has the better interior brings that special Olympics meme to my mind

Would a Born VZ be a better option than both?

15% off a Cupra Ravel at the moment with the benefit of 15 stage DCC

Or wait for the plain looking Polo GTI next year (same car as Ravel)

So its nearly 5 secs slower than a megane 275 despite having over 150hp more

That would seem to backup it relies on out and out acceleration and not handling

I am going to leave this here:

That isn't a great comparison - something seems to be broken with the Gallardo and the GT-R was not getting off the line like they do either - IIRC Jimmy used to own one (not sure if it was his own car as I can't be bothered to rewatch the entire video) but maybe wasn't too familiar with it or something - Sam did have to show him how to launch it, definitely some hesitation off the line that isn't normally there with a GT-R.

That's a completely reasonable opinion to have. Looks are subjective. I think a lot of people here are showing their anti Chinese car bias to be honest.
Not sure what you're trying to prove here tbh

Do you think you might be biased yourself or consider yourself totally impartial?

As someone with no dog in the fight here I know what my perception is :D

I don't think you can draw that conclusion to be honest. The Megane has a top speed of 158mph VS the Xpower's top speed of 124mph.

That suggests to me that the Xpower was probably slightly faster round the corners but the Megane's top speed allowed it to go past the MG4 on the straights.

Sounds like your making excuses.

Biased. Absolutely. I have an MG4 and actually know what it's like to drive Vs most people on here just not liking it because it's Chinese probably.

Not excuses - both of those cars are clearly having issues (EDIT: Though I'm not sure if it is a car issue or driver issue with the GT-R) and even the brief bit I watched they are talking about not being able to get launch mode working properly on the Gallardo.

One of the reasons I stopped watching those kind of videos on Carwow though as there always seems to be at least one of the vehicles in the comparison not working properly or breaks during testing - granted it isn't easy to get hold of those vehicles and they probably have to take what they can get a bit.

That is an excuse. You are saying the other cars would have probably won if they hadn't been broken.

I'm not implying anything of the sort - just that as comparisons go there are problems with it, maybe one of the other cars would have maybe not and/or by how much.

Isn't it a bit early to be drinking?

In fairness, the original point was effectively 'Doesn't the MG4 Xpower already do this?' in response to a video questioning whether "the e-208 GTI is the electric hot hatch we've been waiting for" and it's probably not an entirely unreasonable perspective.

I'm not convinced there's anything particularly revolutionary about the e-208 GTI in reality, to warrant that sort of clickbait titling.
