EV general discussion

Ewwwwwww not for me thanks
yes - I can see you need to drive the car to really comment on wheel

after the discussion in the bm thread about interior colour - I'd swap black for this.
.. if only the new peugot 308 phev was on their electric platform - another cry out for a bev estate

yes 308 might be nicer with stellantis astra's new dash ..or AG now did a video on i4 interior.

Wondering which manufacturers have forked out for amoled displays - from current discussion in model3 thread it's tablet is not,
that would avoid night glow. (generally are they cured of long term reliability like the tv's too, or have a good warranty)

That Opal appears to be using the same capacitive touch control and infotainment as the Id4.....which is terrible.
has the screen sensitivity/reflections been particularly criticized for id4 ?
Parents wouldn''t get on with a touch screen alone so would have to be a car with a separate Idrive type controller, and, is it mazda? who abhor touch screens from safety perspective (largely corroborated by NA road research findings), sunlight reflections (like jaguar has) can also be an issue, for test drive - couldn't see my speed officer

It seems with respect to nice oled screen they are exclusively in top cadillac and S class everyone has back lit (glow in the dark) lcd apart from ioniq 5, door mirror displays.
(which would be crummy if they destroyed your night vision)

Can tesla screen be turned off!
I thought the answer was no (awaiting corrections?) you have a night mode like for a browser, but backlight off NO, maybe you can ramp down the backlight.
e: but really, should have a screen time-out like for my laptop, albeit that doesn't switch back on if there is an emergency, navigation route warning.

will need to see what is like in real life but lights annoy me a lot. id turn my i drive screen off all the time why so many lights in drivers faces these Days

I press and hold my favourite button which I've set for stealth mode.... it turns off both screens and dims the steering wheel.

Damn those legacy OEMs

So much prefer the Model S and X layouts with the instrument binnacle as normal. That centre screen only is not good.

I don't get why people hate the lack of stuff behind the wheel, i had a Toyota Yaris for years with all the info in the middle, in fact the speed read out was even further away than on a Tesla and it was never even a slight bit of an issue. Once you've used it for more than a few minutes it really is a non issue.

Minis are another good example as well as some Citroen’s had centre speedos. I forgot the Yaris has that for a time too.

I prefer the placement of the speedo on the Model 3, I find it better than when I have to drive a car where I need to look down at the binnacle.
