EV general discussion

sadly i dont think you will get anywhere until you have access. The old owners should have transferred to the new owners or at very least transfer control back to Easee. Or contact previosu owners and ask them for the the serial number and pin?

Or the old owners can still logon to the portal online and do it from there.

Best to contact Easee about what to do when the previous owners havent done this and you can't get hold of them.

Also

1. Remove the front cover on your charger to access the Chargeberry. Above the Type 2 plug, you will find the serial number.

2. The serial number and PIN are located on the back of your manual. Your installer may also place this on the inside of your fuse box door.

Check whether the chargers have load balancing set up - they might be configured to only switch on if the load on the mains feed is less than x amps. (The ohme I have can do this).

My biggest bug bear so far with owning an electric car:-
If I want to charge it up, an automatic amount is immediately deducted from my debit card, was £25 (last Monday). It only updated this morning with the total amount for the charge (7.63).
I know that at most petrol stations, a set amount is now taken if you pay at the pump, but this updates straight afterwards with the amount purchased. Why can't electric charge points be the same?
Also, some of the points make you use an app and load money onto that prior to charging, just use contactless (or make it more appealing by reducing the charging payment rate if you have to use the app)
At the current moment, I can charge at home, but I have to use public chargers whilst away at work.

We tried the instructions but unfortunately there’s no manual, nor is the there the tool required to open the Easee box to get at the serial.

I’m at my mums now and it looks like 2 separate issues:

1. Easee charger has a boost/override button, which isn’t obvious. So the existing schedule must need changing as when pressing the boost, it works.

2. Indra Smart Pro wouldn’t turn on - it was stuck in a boot loop. Tried turning it off and back on a few times and it’s working for now, but again I had to press the boost button for it to work once it was on.

So definitely need to get the app set up for each charger.

But it’s complicated - they want proof of residency etc etc.

So unnecessary for a blooming charger :(

i take it you tried contacting the estate agent / land lord / rental agency to see if they had contact details for the previous owner for them to get you the info you need?

it could be as simple as them remotely logging into their account and doing a factory reset.

This. Well it is with Easee. IF you can get hold of the old owners, they will be able to log into their online account and pass ownership over. So long as they can remember their login that is!

Hopefully it isn't as downright daft as Hive. When you move, they basically instruct you to take your Thermostat with you (just the end user bit, not the receiver) or throw it away. Because of 2FA (aka their planned obsolescence excuse) they reckon it is impossible to securely transfer ownership...

Looks like we are ordering the MG4 Essence 64 tomorrow.... Get towards the end of November. Trading in our F31 330D. So need to get a wallbox sorted and look about at different power supplier. Our current is 21.981 c/kWh off peak , but found 1 that is 16.50 c/kWH

Fully electric now... :)

MG4 has some weird quirks but my wife is loving it so far. Will do a longer write up when I have a bit more time. :)

Citation needed.

I read the BBC article this morning and it made no mention of an electric car (or ICE car) starting the fire.

Is this going to be the same as the ship that went up in flames? Electric was blamed for that but once they actually got onto the ship they found the cause to be an ICE car and most of the BEVs were actually un-damaged.

Big fire at Luton airport car park, allegedly caused by an electric car. When they go up they certainly burn well.

Literally nothing official posted alleged or other

"

How did the fire start?

Limited details have been released so far about the cause of the fire, which Luton Airport described as being a "car fire that has spread".
The fire service was called to reports of a blaze on level three of the airport's terminal two car park at 20:47 BST on Tuesday.
The fire was "rapidly escalating" and a major incident was declared at 21:38.
Up to 1,200 vehicles may have been in the car park and subsequently damaged, the fire service said.
A full investigation into the fire will take place, the fire service said."

There’s a twitter video showing an RR Discovery was the cause. Though just like your assertion, it is totally unverified.
Doubt it...

But yes video appears to be a previous gen L494 Range Rover Sport with an engine bay fire. The floor collapsing seems to be the largest reason for the propogation.

Interesting as the BBC wrote a fire chief as saying it is thought to have started in a diesel vehicle.

But why let the truth get in the way of a click bait story

Looks like you’re all safe this time.

Assuming you don’t own one of these
