EV general discussion

If you're living on the UK riviera where the beach is a stones throw +work close, how much range does he need.;
V2G might be nice as a cherry.

I mean, @mattyg could have bought 17 of them for what he paid for the Audi… :D
Probably less hassle too. :D

I have 3 cars so far in 30 odd years of driving that have a place in my heart

A Honda CRX
A Skoda Fabia VRs
Obviously the M5 Comp

Hoping the Audi sits in there too. Might reserve judgment until we've done the Euro road trip in the summer

It will probably get 3m/kwh in winter because you’ll be starting from cold and only going 5 mins down the road so the average over those few miles will be poor.

However, it’s irrelevant because that’s literally the target market. No one’s buying that thing to commute 45 mins in each direction each day even if you could just manage it with its available range.

There is a bloke round my way that uses an Ami to drive (literally) 1 mile to the train station and back on the daily. I bet you could walk it in less time because there are cut throughs on foot.

Range isn't measured in minutes. You could spent 45 minutes and do 10 miles in a lot of places at rush hour. There are so many **** box cars that you see stuck in traffic and people wouldn't be wasting fuel idling in a Spring at least. I guess people make sacrifices with lots of things, if you need to drive that far then maybe it would work out if you are spending £60 a week (~£3k per year) on commuting fuel and this would drop that, and increase your available balance at the end of every month.

That's lazy, I could get it on a rainy day, but every day. I walk 5-6 miles to one of the places I work about 1h 40 mins, or cycle if I really want to move it along. I like the walk in the spring through to summer though very relaxing and no roads, other than a couple of crossings, so that helps.

******* OHME!! My Home Pro charger has been playing up and losing the connection for the past month or so. I did a online chat with them two weeks ago and the lady "tweaked" the sim settings and told me to do a power cycle which I did and it seemed to have fixed it but it didn't as it's failed again. I chatted to them again this afternoon and they "tweaked" the sim settings again and told me to do a power cycle which I did yet again. This time when it came back on I plugged the car in and got no "ping" on my phone to ask me to unlock the charger which I thought strange. I checked the app and it was offline again plus it doesn't even recognise that the car is plugged in. I looked at the chargers screen and it was all red which I have never seen before as it's usually the two bars either side that change colour if there is a fault. I got back onto OHME and was typing the problem yet again and got no reply. I looked at the clock and it was 16.58 so it looks like the person who was "helping" me just cleared off home and left me to it. That's it until Monday now"" They completely broke my charger and left me to it so I can't charge the car. Their customer service has been terrible but to just bugger off and leave me in the lurch is disgraceful!!

I am going to have to dig the granny lead out and try to remember how to set the car up so it uses the off peak. Don't buy a OHME charger!!

In a society where everyone's up to their eyeballs in debt and living month to month paying off bills, stuff like this goes a long way. Granted it's not for everyone, but for many people, this is cheap motoring, with warranty, for buttons. Dunno why anyone would have a problem with it tbh.

My mum has an Ohme charger which has just died. Keeps tripping the electric when turned on

They can’t get anyone out for a minimum of 2 weeks, and she’s quite rural so only one charger near by which is regularly full.

Interesting to hear your poor experience too :(
