EV general discussion

Really liking the EV6 gave a Golf R a shock earlier accelerating onto the motorway I don’t think he expected me to overtake him. Only downside so far is the range is pretty awful in anything but eco mode. It does manage around 225 miles though and is still pretty quick even in Eco. It’s been a fantastic upgrade from the Ioniq 5 although I do miss the retro looks the EV6 is a much nicer car.
Aren't they the same car underneath?

Maybe stop racing Golf R’s down slip roads :p

I am looking at either ID7 Tourer, Skoda Enyaq or the Kia EV5 to replace my e-Niro at the end of this year, need to sort a test drive out of the VW and the Skoda, but when I rang the VW garage they were useless so need to try another dealer.

But the lack of physical buttons on the ID.7 and Enyaq I am not too sure about, due to vision issues were trying to navigate the screen with my driving glasses might not be ideal, though I understand the voice control on the ID.7 is meant to be really good.

varifocals are what I use - but any cars with digital rear view mirrors would be out - megane e-tech would be problematic, possibly digital side mirrors too.
maybe most cars now have this but (like audi) being able to put the speed in large digits in centre of instrument panel is useful, especially for decelerating on upcoming speed zones.

Looking at replacing my current car with an EV and there are some 2022/2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Premium Spec with 20-40k miles from £17-18.5k. They are the revised MY23 models with the 77kWh battery and battery pre conditioning as standard.

If I got a 2023 model, then that's Hyundai warranty until 2028 and 2031 for the battery.
did you discard mach-e - also sub 20K - forget who posted pictures of their nice yellow one.

Sadly I can not wear verifocus mostly due to lacking most of a working retina, its more for things like climate control which I know can set and forget most of the time, but its nice to have a physical button can reach out and touch and know where it is.

(I have no idea so do not take as gospel)

but if you do go to check out , find out how good the voice recognition is.

I love a proper button as much as the next person for somethings but so long as you can use voice commands it is not the end of the world.

for instance it's pretty much how I use my sat nav and music now all the time.

Do you need to do some silly "hey grok" thing to prompt or how do you interact with it?

Grok can't control the car. So you just press the voice control button and ask for your request and it does it that way.

I honestly can't say I miss physical controls. Really I set things once and I rarely need to touch them again.

There's a section of road near me that's become a bit of a drag race off the lights to the next roundabout. I'm amazed the times an EV starts to whip me then goes into power saving mode and starts worrying about MpKWH :D I vow to never let that be me :p

Same. Particularly now they have imented things like automatic screen de-mist, heated seats and steering wheel.

I never touch these controls now.
