EV general discussion

Nice!

I do think 400-500bhp is about all you would ever need.

Can never have enough power. lol

I borrowed my friends RaceBox timer today and my best 0-62 was 3.28. That’s with the car fully overclocked. Not bad as KIA claim 3.5. The super warm weather helps and also gets the battery pre heated far quicker.

I’m a bit frustrated with Hyundai.

Earlier this month, we walked into a Hyundai dealership to look at an Ioniq 6, and as they had some deals on, we enquired about it with the sales team.

We made a couple of things very clear:

1. We were still in a lease agreement with our current car but looking at rejecting it.

2. We are buying a house and completion was on the 19th of June.

We therefore couldn’t do the finance before this date, and wouldn’t be able collect the car until the end of June.

He had a quick chat with his manager, and they agreed that as long as we did the deal before the end of June, they’d keep the car for us.

Edit: At this point I put down a £400 deposit to agree it.

On the 21st we manage to get hold of the sales rep to sort the finance, he puts it through. We then don’t hear anything.

Chased a few times, find it has been excepted and that he’ll be in touch to sort the collection.

More chasing, and I get hold of him.

Turns out, the car has already been sold to another customer, so they don’t actually have one. Told me it was due to our delay - despite having a face to face conversation about the above 2 points.

Can’t tell me if/when they will have one, but will let me know “as soon as possible”.

It’s left me in a tricky situation because I’m handing the ID 4 back this weekend, and will be without the car - the reason we did this is because we had agreed to sort the replacement Hyundai for the end of the month.

If they now cannot source a car, then I’ve had a finance check on my record for no reason.

Can you not complain to the manager and have them loan you a demo or dealership car until you find one? If you had everything in writing that is... bloody car dealers would do anything to get the sale though. Bet it wasn't your sales rep that sold it and it was something another salesperson did to get the commission going to him.

Took a deposit to hold the car, then sold it, then sold you finance on a car they didn't have. That's a good level of special right there.

Car didn't like it's charge cable this morning. It locked in, but wouldn't start a charge
Tried a few other points at work, nothing.
Tried a pool car cable, worked straight away.

Checking the cable, everything seems ok.no damage, corrosion etc...
Checked the resistor, 220ohms, that's online with my 32amp cable.

Checked continuity, all good. Wiggled it, trying to find a break, nothing untoward.

Any one had this kind of situation?

Going to try it on a mate's car tomorrow, can't now as his car is fully charged.

Yeah will be sending an email over to them, wanted to calm down a bit first :P

I’m sure there’s a saying about frying pans and fires…

“Can’t be worse than VW right?”

Checked the pins aren't bent?

I've not managed to knacker a cable yet though, so can't say I've dealt with this before

Pins are fine.
I did think one pin was pushed back, but that's normal it turns out. CP or PP one.
Edit - I assume it's the one that came with the car, so it's only a few years old and looks in a decent condition.

You're not having much luck with these dealerships :(

Beginning to think my expectation of getting what I’m paying for is the problem

“Here is £400 a month for a car”
“It doesn’t work?”

“Oh well sorry”

“Here is a £400 deposit for a new car”

“Thanks, what are the finance details”

“Here you go”

“Thanks, accepted. We’ve sold the car now though”

That’s really crap why would they approve you finance if they have sold the car. Definitely worth a complaint put something on their public Facebook account they tend to reply to them more than a letter.

Look on the bright side, you've got plenty of template letters for any future issues......

Seriously though, you must have done something bad in a past life to be having this amount of bad luck!.....

Hope you get sorted asap.

why mercedes...just why.

Not a single one of the new electric mercedes support V2L. CLA, GLB, GLC, C class. None of them. Some reports that the GLB *might* support it later. With my EV6 (which at this point is 5 yr old tech), during one of the last winter storms that took out our electric at home for 36 hrs, we were able to power up the key stuff in the house (i.e. internet and TV...oh and the fridge !), and it only used about 10% of the battery. EV6 has a mains socket inside the car AND also has a V2L adapter for the main charging port.

I see BMW will be making a V2L adapter for the BMW iX3 available towards the end of the year.

I Really wanted to go for a GLC/ C class, but this might turn into a deal breaker. It's a massive miss in my opinion. All that electric power sitting in the driveway that can't be accessed. Imagine an electric sports UTILITY vehicle (GLB/GLC) that you can't power any mains products when you take it camping or whatever.

Dead, tried on another car, nothing.
Not bad for an almost 3 year old OEM Kia cable lol
Looks in great condition too, well looked after.
