Even if it doesn’t, it would be covered by consumer rights act by whoever you bought the car from.At least it wasn’t the car haha

My mate got a dreaded "Replace Battery" warning on his i4 M50 yesterday morning. Spent all morning trying to get something sorted with BMW, then i got on social media and it turns out there's a fault with the latest software update and it's a global issue. BMW are trying to push software fixes out OTA to remove the error message!

No harm in asking. Its in very good condition, so they can't really blame wear and tear.
Why? It’s not any different to any other part with comes with the car. It’s a bit of a stretch argue it’s a wear/service item.
Even Tesla would replace it no questions asked and they are militant on enforcing warranty terms.
But if you get to the point of having to go down the CRA2015 route they're obviously not rolling over and just replacing it as you'd hope, at which point you need to start proving it's inherently faulty from manufacture and by that time it's probably cheaper and easier just to buy one.
Just like with my broken MG I had them bang to rights under the CRA, they knew I had them but they also knew that most people just want rid so they can go and buy something that works. At which point the less than £200 they deducted from my refund was easier than wasting even more of my time dragging them through a small claims case, they knew it and I'd already wasted more than £200 worth of my time (The thought of it still riles me though
).

my ipace had a knackered cable when I bought it ..... It was stressful at the time as my 1st fears went to a car fault.... and typically it was the morning of going on holiday and needing to do a long trip in the car.
Marshalls Jaguar were fantastic and even tho they had no replacement in stock with a 1 week wait time a sales rep gave me the one out of his car as he didn't need it.
then our BMW i3 at 1st I thought I had gotten lucky as it came with 2 cables... turned out one of those was knackered as well. so it would appear to be not that uncommon.

Does Volvo use different software then completely unrelated to polestar .... or is it just a shakedown where Volvo chose to pay some blackmail money and polestar didn't ... ( or is it because Volvo still sells ICE vehicles and polestar is pure EV which the trump government has issue with?)
given both have same parent company and (I thought) fundamentally used the majority of the same parts if one is a security risk then the other is too....
