EV general discussion

I am getting creepy stalker vibes off of this comment.

Leaf performance is pretty impressive though for a £3000 over 14 year old car. Beats most ICE cars off the line.
Was it you that originally made it?

Just made me chuckle and stuck in my mind.

Yeah but you're not taking a family of four with luggage and stuff to Snowdonia in an M2.

You lot are comparing apples with pears here, those two cars couldn't be more different.

Yeah you know it was me. You are either going through my comments from ages ago or I'm living rent free in your head.

Although the way your are phrasing whatever I said is definitely not actually what I said.

It's funny when the practical family car is faster than the track focused sports cars!
It isn't though. It is in the 0-60 drag, just like most other EVs are. You showed it going round the ring in a - your words - "respectable time in line with other hot hatches" which doesn't equal faster than a track-focussed car at all. It means it's perfectly respectable for a hot hatch.
The thing about EVs is that because of the insane acceleration, they can get away with either a poor driver who can only do point-n-squirt, or much lower cornering speeds because they can make up the time when powering out of the corners.

I was having an argument with someone on the TeslaUK subreddit a couple of days ago when I said I didn't think I needed the ModelY Performance because "if I want to go fast, I'll drive my Mustang". Cue people jumping to point out that my Mustang is slow and that the ModelY will be much faster, that the 0-60 is so much quicker, etc. etc. It's almost as if people don't understand that there's more to going fast than just "floor it and go". Who'd have thought?

No one is saying people who are in the market for a BMW M2 are also looking at an Xpower. It was just a demonstration of the Xpower's raw acceleration.

Doesn't matter, all that's important is making sure lovelyhead understands that his car is ****, all the cars like his car are ****, nobody would buy a car like his because it's **** and any indication to the contrary is definitely nonsense because it couldn't possibly not be a **** car.

I agree, EV's being fast off the line is nothing new or even that interesting any more. Not that I'm against it, of course!

I often stop completely dead on a slip road to do a 0-60.

You joke, but at Easter we got stuck behind a guy the decided to pull over on the slip road to the M5 at Junction 6 Worcester, they caused about 4 or 5 cars behind us to have to wait for a decent gap, wished I'd had something faster then! It's really quite scary.

TBH my car probably overboots to 500 bhp and being RWD I'd probably end up facing the wrong way, or in a bush.
