EV general discussion

For the cabin preconditioning on Tesla at least you can set that schedule separately in app.

The Hypervolt can lock as well but I just wanted simplicity. Bit different now I am letting EDF control the charge, actually had to start using the lock function. Our driveway faces the road and is away from the house so wouldn't put it past someone just plugging in! I have EDF integrated with Tesla directly so the charger will just start on anything else but the Tesla itself unfortunately.

You can choose to integrate with the charger on EDF.

On a side note, has anyone actually had some random try to use their charger?

I was going to do that but as we only have the one EV currently I thought the better integration of the 2 was probably directly with the car.

Probably just an irrational thought on my part with the accessible charger but I bet its happened somewhere :P

Well if you integrate with the charger, you won't have to worry about getting billed at peak rates if someone uses it because it probably will not charge their car during the day when you are not at home.

Plus you don't have to worry about manually stopping the charge in the car when you first plug in.

All good points you make, I will give it a go at some point! With my car at least the charge seems to stop within 15-30 seconds so was never overly worried about that.

I prefer having the car integrated because you lets you charge to a specific SoC more easily. Our charger is in a garage though so no concerns about anyone randomly plugging in!

Probably a stupid question, but for those of you who picked up a new Tesla, did it come fully charged?

Stay tuned for the next episode of "Diddums drip feeds stupid questions in the EV thread".

In the case of the used Model 3* we picked up from Bristol in August it was charged to 100% for pick up.

Sadly I don't know if this is standard practice or just someone just happened to pop it on charge ( I didn't ask for it and wasn't expecting it as the car had ~ 65% on the test drive and we picked it up 3 days later).

LR RWD 23 (Pre Highland) which will sit alongside our existing 2019 SR+ (I have no desire to part with the SR+ as its perfect for daily driving and if/when we need to use both at once).

Just fitted the S3XY knob and commander to the MY. First impressions are good. It looks legit like it's supposed to be there.
I've set up a few pages so far. One that gives me one button press to access all 4 of the heated seats. Another that lets me change regen braking and drive modes on the fly, and another that has my media controls.

I really like one of the features of the commander and that's that it can re-enable autosteer after a lane change has disabled it. It worked like this; signal to change lanes (autopilot drops to TACC), change lanes, signal turns off, 3 seconds later autosteer is re-enabled. Superb.

I keep coming back to and looking at this, but whilst still in warranty I wonder if its a bridge too far if something goes wrong (I already have a camera issue that needs resolving)

Does it limit access to the front storage much? Doesn't seem too bad.

Mine had about 25% when I picked up mine from Bristol.

Did you end up going for the dash to complete the install? :)

*EDIT* Just saw your post elsewhere, its on the way! :P

Jesus. Today I learned not to post mods like the S3XY knob on /r/teslamodely
Anyone would think I'd just drawn deal-with-it shades on the Mona Lisa...........

People are strange! I will end up with one at some point, waiting to see the pics of the dash installed... did you get any of the additional buttons?

No, I didn't get the buttons. I might get 2 of them for the back seats so that people there can turn their heated seats on. TBH, I'm not fussed in the front. With the knob there are about buttons for me.
I'll receive the dash next week and it should be a really simple install as the commander is now set up and working. Just need to run the little power lead up.

Wifey and I are discussing the best place to mount it. I favour on the steering column so that it can be seen through the wheel. Wifey says she prefers if it goes near the screen on the top. We will see once it arrives.
