EV general discussion

Just to further the battery comments, my MG4 is a company car and I therefore have paid absolutely zero regards to the battery health or charging limits etc (albeit while I dont care about charging beyond 80% it was maybe only charged completely once every couple of weeks). My battery health at 3 years old is 97%. No idea if this is good, bad or indifferent but certainly doesn't appear disastrous

Battery lifespan = 100 years.

Man Maths FTW.

That bit is the easy bit I guess, but then charging out and about I think isn't as easy as plug car in, pay.
Yeah sometimes it's pay, plugin and charge, unplug then leave - if you forget the last bit you might be a be upset. :D

Wonder how long before Google integrate that into Maps.
Google Maps have EV charging built-in across many EV's with secure data sharing for the chargers and reading your cars % charge etc. for Andoird Auto and Car Play It knows what your car is capable of and the connectors it can use.
That's not how I do things that, I absolutely need my cars to last a decent amount of time.
Current car I've owned since 2016, 130k on it so far. If I don't get 10 years that would be classed as a financial disaster for me.

130k miles... pfft.. that's nothing.
Cheers everyone, it's good getting feedback of people that actually use EVs day in day out, reviews never seem to paint an accurate picture.
EV's are a nothing burger to own these days, its most fear of change and having to know something you didn't know before, also known as lazy culture.

Sorry when have you owned or used several EV's left in a low state of charge for 3, 6, 9, 12 months etc. to gather this data that is your personal experience, going to a Nissan dealer doesn't count. Let me guess.. you have a van at work once and it was left for ages...
I think that's just physics tbf, batteries do self discharge

If they sell reasonably well though, used values will tank heavily. It's a giant coupe style thing (like an 8 Series Gran Coupe - typically unpopular compared to SUVs), and an EV as well. £40k in 3 years.

I might bite at £40k in 3 years.

It can tow my caravan also :p

It’s got a 112kwh battery, so plenty in practice.

It should get ~550wh/mile over a decent distance so ~170-180 miles assuming that 112kwh is gross rather than useable.

Edit: 106kwh usually so yeh ~180 miles (or 50 more than my tesla).

another 5M+ , 2.5T tank size EV, as big as an S class.
If they had a 90/95% scaled version maybe the british buyer would be able manouver it on British roads,
or park in the many sub 5m supermarket places.

Perhaps it was conceived for the USA market before polestar encountered import duty problems there,
accompanied by the flogging off of excess capacity of other models in europe/uk.

Moderator’s score: 1/10. Oh dear, jpaul. Remove your return key, it's not your friend!! As usual, missing punctuation, inconsistent capitalisation and another sentence that seems to have been assembled between tube stations. “2.5T tank size EV” que? and a british driver on British roads, how british.... You're discussing a five-metre car, yet somehow your sentences are even harder to navigate. Please, just proofread this stuff.

Just imagine if they had other cheaper smaller cars in their range, kinda like the way you can buy a C class instead of an S class, they'd probably do fairly well. Perhaps someone should suggest that to them.

To help out the mods, I’d give this a solid 6/10.

Much improvement over previous posts - I could actually understand it and it made some interesting points.

Good work old chap - keep up the effort.

How dare you! For a start you are far too lenient....

Is anyone else on normal octopus go with ohme? Not the intelligent. I recently changed tariffs so I chose the newer octopus go tariff in the ohme app, but the app starts trying to generate charging schedules throughout the day, on off peak rather than the 5 off peak hours. I have to setup a manual tariff (not that it’s any hassle to do so) to charge overnight, but just curious if anyone has seen this?
