Ever 'met' a sleeper ?

I think the driver of the Sierra Cosworth on the M40 back in August was quite shocked when a 1967 Ford Anglia went flying past at a rate of knots.

Or the driver of an Escort RS Turbo who didn't expect same said Anglia to obliterate it off the lights, whilst spinning up all 4 wheels, 7 years ago in Colchester! ;)

Yep, my dad's Anglia, whilst not "set the world on fire" fast, is faster than most people expect with it's 1.8 litre engine, and 4WD :)

seriously, the JUN hyper lemon is about as far removed from a 'sleeper' as it gets. :/

lmfao, indeed! That very skyline came along to the mitsucolt rolling road day, its fully kitted out, bright yellow and shakes the roof when the pedal hits the floor. Amazing car to see and hear strapped down on the RR, hit about 700 bph on low boost, kept breaking gearboxes at more than that :D

I think some people have the wrong idea of a sleeper too.

Cant say im lucky enough to have met a sleeper yet, but with a massive 1.8 in a Mondeo they better be ready!!!!

Given the fact that you barely ever see standardish ones around anymore, I'd probably 2nd that.

Last time I saw a stock one was......Well, I can't remember...

I had a weird day the other week when I saw bone-stock and MINT versions of...

A Volvo 440, a phase 1 Nova and an EARLY Ka. All minty mcmint with shiny black bumpers and all in white :/

Had a reliant robin pull away from my 28bhp TZR125 years back.... dusted me on acceleration from standing start onto a dual carriageway. I'd love to know what he had in that as even though the 125 wasn't fast it must have had around a 6 second 0-60 :-)

I have been a passenger in my friends estate car a few times, it beat scoobys, M3,M5 and pretty much anything sub supercar.

Oh I forgot to mention, it is an RS4 :cool:

Ford Orion some years back when I was in my new 325ci. I was not racing, got onto a dual carriageway and went to overtake the Orion when he hit the throttle and made my BMW feel like it was parked! Must have had 500bhp+ to pull away like it did, I mean it was MASSIVELY quicker.

Amazing bit of kit.

in my old 2l mondeo i tried chasing a white corsa with steelies, and it LEFT me......mustve been something special under the bonnet....it didnt just out accelerate me like say a saxo VTS would, it pulled away more like an mr2 or some such.

If i follow my plans through with a turbo for my car, would that class as a sleeper? 300+bhp 240bhp/tonne, 13.5 second quarter Mondeo, even if it has got the RSAP kit and st200 alloys?

Hi all, newbie to this site, and i'm absolutely love it! Some of you will know mw from other vauxhall forums. Just thought i'd post a few pics of my 1985 Vauxhall nova GL. Now I know the nova has a bit of a bad rep, but there's more and more knocking around, that are breaking out of that mould. it's not the typical "chav" mobile, I hope you'll agree!

And originally had the intention of just warming up the 1.2 a little, and fitting a 5 speed box, but like all good intentions that went out of the window in a matter of days! I had this lying around which had been earmarked for another project that never got off the ground, so;

A couple of days later it looked like this!

A quick lick of paint saw the engine looking like this-

And in the bay;

All plumbed and wired;

And then some rims! Toyed with some of these later,

But decided to keep it on steels! looks much better imo!

And just in cas you're wondering what it looks like inside?;

(1.2 badge staying put just to annoy the young saxo drivers!)

The interior is staying put, it's sooooo bad it's good! It's been completed since the day before the performance vauxhall show this year and has since had some more bits done. On a recent total vauxhall magazine shoot it recorded a 0-60 of 6.99 and a top speed of 134mph! More pics coming soon!

THAT is how you make a sleeper. Not a Nova van with 16" black alloys.

Steels with mismatched hubcaps, a 16v badge and cracked/gaffa taped bumpers would make it a sleeper ;)
