I thought at first it must be on the front of my screen, but no, a tiny bug had actually got into the TFT layer and was crawling around in there! I didn't know what to do, hoping that it wouldn't die right in the middle of the screen, leaving a pernament mark. Thankfully, it crawled off to the edge and I haven't seen it since.

Well, I didn't think it was THAT common  :D . Unfortunately, it seems to have died right next to my recycle bin

I was thinking of upgrading to a TFT monitor but after seeing all the threads about bugs getting stuck in the screen, it makes me wonder how on earth they get there in the first place

Is that a screen shot? ;)

It looks quite a long way in, appearing almost behind the image.

It is still there, but it seems to have slid down into the bin and now is resting on the "recycle bin" text. Yeah, must have got in via the venting, probably attracted to the light. In fact, I managed to push it off the edge a couple of times using paint, drawing black behind it and white in front of it to lure it into the edge. Quite annoying, definately didn't consider this when I bought it :(

it will be behind the image. its behind the screen mate. You basically have your thin piece of glass(which is the screen) and behind that will be a white sheet material which is used to difuss the light from the tft's backlights. The bugs will be between the sheet and the glass. You'll have to dismantle the tft to get the out.

You think thats bad, i had 3 die in mine all on the same day :o
