EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3/SC2 iCX Preorder 3.28.2017

Pretty shocking move from EVGA... as much as Ben might hide behind the 'powers that be' it's a crappy move mate. If there was a change you would screw everyone over you should have said, no EVGA cards for me this time I don't think...

Not likely to believe anything you tell us moving forwards if you don't control your own destiny.

It was just a shame that on top of this they are still charging £30 more than another UK retailer. So personally I fell like I was being kicked twice! As for the delivery charge, well they were kind enough to remove that as I was told the page I found offering free delivery should have been removed.

I don't pre order things that's much so maybe that's why this all feels worse on top of the ever growing costs of GPU's. I guess when you are spending near on a grand it would be nice to feel valued and people stick with what they were implying in terms of pricing.

I've got no issue with the occasional higher price from OC, really that aside it was a bit of a misleading joke on EVGAs part...

People often forget you were only privy to that information because people like Gibbo share it so it's a shame that customer facing made them look bad when screwed by the vendor.

Fair point.

I do feel mildly sympathetic for OC. EVGA really made you guys look bad. If I hadn't ordered from EVGA direct i'd be looking at a £110 premium over the price I got (849 euros currently = £718). Feel pretty lucky.

I like EVGA for their customer service and coolers, but now i've learnt not to trust what OC reps say to me - ultimately they have no idea really - and that's EVGAs fault.

I was seriously considering buying the EVGA FTW3 card - but not overly happy with supporting a company that appears to behave in an underhand way like this. I didn't expect this from EVGA, not good PR really.

wonder how much interest rate their bank gives their company account ? First rule of any business, take my first as quick as you can :D

paypals method of Pay after collection really hits potential interest for companies for said products like this.

honestly hope everyone gets their cards soon and get gaming :D

OCUK have clearly been done over here, and EVGA are kidding themselves on if they think it's a good move to cut the re-sellers out of the picture... if they want to do that they'd better up the ante. I just processed a step-up due to having a 1060 I didn't need or pay for. It was my first experience of buying direct and 3 major stumbling blocks:

  1. I had to pay for delivery.
  2. The card took a week to arrive from Germany.
  3. The PayPal exchange rate hammered me for £20 or £30 extra.

There's no comparison to that and free next day delivery from OCUK.

Also, the gulf in price between EVGA direct and the re-sellers is a clear **** take on EVGA's behalf.

its almost Distribution Prices are what they sell at to Resellers. Not sure how EVGA took payment , was it at full or a deposit? also what excahnge rate was used as Paypal gives off some naff prices etc. could have one of those of yes, saved a bit by ording through EVGA but still could have been screwed a little by payment mothed/conversations etc etc .

I sometimes at charged 19% VAT or 20% VAT when ordering products from Germany, and thats sometimes through the same shop haha

could be Locals getting 19% rate and your charged 20% but still in the EU but your card/ billing location triggers higher VAT rate etc etc

I am considering cancelling my EVGA FTW3 pre-order and going for a Gigabyte Aorus Extreme edition, good or bad move??

I'd say go for it. I'm hearing on the EVGA forums that FTW3 preorders are being pushed back. US perorders are getting priority over UK/EU members? I hope this isn't true.

sod it, gonna cancel my pre-order if thats the case. Gigabyte looks faster out of the box over the FTW3? Cost isn't really an issue as I have been saving quite a while for a nice new GPU. I fully admit I personally prefer the physical look of the FTW3 over any other card but it shouldn't be about that I suppose. Plus the Gigabyte has a 4 year warrenty.

long-time forum members here will know that this has happened with every EVGA launch since the year - .

the cards will probably show up in U.S retail stores on shelves before the U.K buyers get their piece of the action ;)

I cancelled my order of the Black Edition. A bit of buyers remorse combined with the new AMD's and (maybe) Nvidia Volta's (GTX 2080?) on the horizon. Plus I quite like Zotac's 5 year warranty.

Volta: https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/04/17/report-nvidia-prepping-new-volta-architecture-gami.aspx
If that article is right, there'll be a Volta card by the end of June this year, i.e. a 3-4 month gap between the 1080 Ti and the first Volta. But remember that the first Maxwell card also came out 3 months after the 780 Ti, and it was the 750 Ti. The first Volta card wouldn't even come close to beating the GTX 1070, let alone the 1080 Ti, and it definitely wouldn't be a GTX 2080.
