EVGA RMA - new card returned but lower spec?

Lol...I expected it to be some geek on $10,000 a year who makes the tea, but it is actually Joe Darwin the Marketing Director at customer services...so we shall see.

Seems everyone on the EVGA forums agrees that it is taking the **** too.

We will see.

Don't swear! FF.

Getting trading standards onto it won't help me much for a firm based in Germany!

And for those who claim the 9600GT is a mid-range card, are you serious?

They can be had for little over £60, and the 8800GTS cost me £350 from OCUK two years back.

No I wasn't expecting a £350 card to replace it, just something with *800 at the end, as anything with *600 feels like a step down and sucks anus...

TBF...having looked around it does have pretty much equal performance to the 8800GTS, though this won't stop me whining like ***k to EVGA about it.

Sorry mate I was talking about Overclockers UK not some other german based company but same rules apply as far as Im concerned. When I send my Card back if I dont get a full refund or the option to get another card of equal vaule but if a different make and model I'll be kicking off like nothing they have ever known.

No worries mate. Were it inside the first twelve months I would be going at OCUK to resolve this, but although I still could I think it is reasonable to think that the manufacturer should be taking care of me.

After 2 yrs there has to be a bit of give and take, but a £60 card is taking the **** a little bit.

NO swearing! FF.

to the op, how long did the rma process take? oh and how much did it cost to send to germany?

and one last question do you have to register the card before you can get an rma with evga?

Took a couple of weeks over Xmas.

Cost £11 by RM Airsure

You only get 12mths warranty unless you register it online within 90 days IIRC. But even then for the 12 months you still have to register it to RMA it.

so even though my card (same as yours) is over 12 months old i can still register it for an rma evn though i didnt register within the 90days

No, my understanding is that if you have a card you didnt register in 90 days but want to RMA it within the first 12 mths then you still need to register it, but outside the 12 you cannot.

The best thing to do would be to visit EVGA.com and try to register it. The RMA can then be done via the "Profile" page.

Well it now seems that getting a reply from EVGA is nigh on impossible...not a reply or read receipt from anyone I have emailed in 48 hrs.

Personaly I would be straight in the car at the shop ranting and raving like a mad man till I got satisfaction or they called the cops to get rid of me after of course I'd exaushed all the proper routes of complaints. I'm having to return a Graphics Card very soon that keeps crashing my computer all the time, Im hoping for a quick refund, no fuss and I'll buy a differnt card from them with the money but if get messed about at all I'll be straight on the phone to traiding standards, in my car at the shop with some of my mates and be kicking off like some sort of mental patiant all day if I have to.

They have a legal right to replace your item with the same or better and if they dont make sure you complain to trading standards, citizen advice bureau and go to the shop and dont just make a small fuss, kick off like your on somthing.

Im not saying do it right away, as a last resort of course, after you have been through all the normal channels. Bending over and taking it gets you no where these days, if they mess me about with my return belive me there going to really know about it like nothing they know.

You've said it's a last resort, but this doesn't do you any favours in the eyes of the people you're shouting at. Ask politely and you'll get a better response, having worked in a shop, I can say i'd do a favour for the nice customer but if someone was making a fuss instead of discussing it with me i'd do the bare minimum for them.

There's a thread on this in GD anyway.
