EVGA UK RMA centre announced

How much did postage cost in total, and did you pay both ways?

Cheers

Yeah I had to pay postage both ways. EVGA charged me 16 euros for the new card and I paid ~£20 using Parcel Force via Parcel Monkey to send my card to Germany. I originally paid £399 for the FE, I'm not really sure how much they take that into account when calculating step-up costs.

I've never really understood the concept of the step up programme. Surely if someone is buying a new gpu they will have done a bit of research and will know if there is a new card coming out within 90 days? Maybe I'm just not seeing the usefulness of it.

I did the research and knew there was a new card (1070/1080) coming out within 90 days... so decided to buy an EVGA card (GTX 970) in the knowledge that I could step-up if I wanted to.

Otherwise my options would have been to go without a new card for a month or two (but I wanted it NOW!), spend more (money/time/hassle) to upgrade twice, or stick with the 970.

It seemed like a really good selling point for EVGA cards, but from what I researched and from what you just told me it doesn't seem so inviting anymore. Nearly £40 for postage is a bit steep, especially as they have a UK RMA centre.

just sent mine off to the uk address EvGA wanted me to ship to Germany.

I called customer service and complained. Asked "why on earth should I ship to Germany" ?.

when they have a uk address to send too but even when talking to customer services it was 15 mins before the guy could confirm the uk address.

Think EVGA ben should have a word with them one year from opening a uk centre and they still asking people in the uk to ship to Germany.
and while u at it ben I think we should have a free game or at least the power connector thrown in considering the EVGA step up was the worst in history from the 29/5/2016 (4+ months) really shocking.

Did have to laugh though customer service guy asks "what's wrong with sending it to Germany? I answer simply "its bloody cheaper to ship from the uk to the uk".

7198347 my step up id ben should u want to throw any thing free my way lol

Hi

Please can you send me the summary of your emails with the team to my email - [email protected]

I have heard of a couple of cases where people have been asked to ship to Germany based in the UK and this should not be happening so just need to alert the head of the team to ensure all communication is correct.

Thanks in advance and sorry for your inconvenience.

Ben

check your in box I have forwarded the emails I received from evga

Curious alright.......sent back my 980ti for Step-Up and if I followed what the email suggested, I would have had to ship it back to Germany, but the actual shipping label attached to the email was sending it to to the UK (in Ireland myself).
Sent it back to the address on the label in the UK there on Monday evening, they received it yesterday, and have shipped out the new card today.

Great service (though the template email about Germany may need to be looked at:p)

mcdermotx. yes your right about the template email the pdf does indeed say a uk address I just had not checked the pdf as the email was implying Germany.

but I did contact EVGA via web support and asked the question do I ship to Germany as there is a UK RMA centre they responded by telling me there was no UK RMA centre and had to ship to Germany.

so there is still a bit of confusion or lack of training with in EVGA tech support.

Definitely......FWIW, I had already started looking into shipping quotes to Germany as I'd not looked at the shipping label. It was only when I was getting excessive costs, and the fact I'd heard about the UK based centre in the past that I bothered to look at the label.
Bit of a lucky escape.

So you were able to successfully use their trade-up program by sending your card to a UK address?

Aye......but only because the shipping label had the UK centre clearly defined, despite what the email said. Don't know what'd happen if the shipping label had Germany and I'd sent it to the UK off my own bat.

That sounds great. How long did it take from sending your card to receiving the new one?

From a few posts up......

Sent it off Mon evening (say Tues morning really) from Ireland, EVGA UK had it Thursday, they shipped the 1080 today via UPS.

The new cards come from Germany though, so the UK centre is really just a receiving end.

Ah yes thanks. Do you remember how much you paid, in total, for postage for this step-up?

Cheers

Card change was zero, so only the shipping back and forth - 16euro shipping to EVGA, and cost about 15 for me to sent over to Preston.
About 30euro (so a few quid under that in sterling) all in all
