Latest Evo tyre test results are out...

Thought you lot might be interested in the overall results:

1st - Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric
2nd - Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
3rd - Continental ContiSport Contact 3
4th - Bridgestone Potenza RE050-A
5th - Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
6th - Pirelli P-Zero Nero
7th - Kumho Ecsta STP KU31
8th - Dunlop Sport Maxx
9th - Yokohama S.Drive

There's obviously a lot more to the test, pick up the latest copy of evo (probably not in the shops just yet) to find out!

I know what tyres I'll continue to buy ;)

Hmmmm. Be a good replacement for the standard CTR RE040s?

Need some in 205/45/R17. Any ideas?

Shall pick up my copy later today (if it's out!), looks like I'll be replacing my conti 3s on the back of my car with eagle F1s when the time comes around as they're a lot cheaper and it seems better too!

Reading slightly further, about the Yokahamas:

It came dead last in all the wet tests, generating so little grip that in the straight-line braking it took a massive 12.1m further than the best tyre...

I think that says it all :p

but they didn't test the "proper" yokos, the eagle f1 equiv. in the form of the yokohama parada spec 2. I really want to see a proper review of them, and despite them being a very popular tyre judging both by the "best sellers" list on tyre websites and user reviews, no one seems to want to review them?

According to Yokohama's, their Advan and .Drive range are higher performance and better tyres than the Parada Spec 2, which are budget performance tyres.

Given this, I wouldn't let them anywhere near my car after the higher offering performed so poorly.

The website classes the Parada spec 2 as part of their "Ultra high performance" range and as the best all round street tyre?

No, it bangs on about street styling and tuner style becuase it looks funky. Check the UK site, where Advan is range topping.

This is why Evo's come over with Advan's fitted not Paradas ;)

No, just the ones Olly has posted.

Damn useful though, as it was proper tests with proper figures on a proper test circuit showing you exactly the difference in performance between the tyres. The only subjective part of the entire test was the handling feel.

Went for Eagle F1 GS-D3 and they came in at £137 each for rears (265/35/18) and £110 each for fronts (235/40/18) in 18".

Wanted the Assymetrics but:

a) At the time I had no information at all as to how they performed, yet GS-D3 was proven
b) They were hard to get hold of in the front tyre size
