**EVO: Tyre Test 2007**

Went for Eagle F1 GS-D3 and they came in at £137 each for rears (265/35/18) and £110 each for fronts (235/40/18) in 18".

Wanted the Assymetrics but:

a) At the time I had no information at all as to how they performed, yet GS-D3 was proven
b) They were hard to get hold of in the front tyre size
Which car did they use?

Cheers lad, looking for 225/40/18 need to do some price matching but seems like GSD3's are around £107 a corner + fitting.

Just had my copy of Evo drop through the door (the only car magazine worth subscribing too :D). They have tested tyres in 2007 and wait for it the car they used:

The Car:
VW Golf GTI MK5

The Track:
Bridgestone European Proving Ground - Rome

Tyre Size:
225/45 R17 Y

Who is a happy bunny with that then :)

Anyways very quick summary:

A decisive win for the new Goodyear, with more table-topping performances than any other tyre. Better still, those wins came in both the wet and the dry objective test, and subjectively it was voted best tyre on the dry handling course.

3. Continental Contisport Contact 3 - 93.5

Enjoy! :D:D

Can someone explain this? Im glad eagles have come out on top again

IIRC the 100% tyre is the tyre that attained the highest result, and the other tyres are marked as to how close they got to the top tyre?

but they didn't test the "proper" yokos, the eagle f1 equiv. in the form of the yokohama parada spec 2. I really want to see a proper review of them, and despite them being a very popular tyre judging both by the "best sellers" list on tyre websites and user reviews, no one seems to want to review them?

What the yokos that are so proper that they dont do them in decent sizes but for shopping trollies only ?

ill tell you dead straight forward, the paradas are not as good as the F1s. i went from F1s to paradas on my golf. id go as far as to say the paradas are maybe a touch unpredictable in the wet, but they are good at handling standing water (ie they do not aqua plane easily)

in the dry id say they were every bit as good as the F1s... but in the wet the F1s own big time.

im planning to go for vrederstein next.

as for the yokos, ive had them lighting up at 50 in 2nd coming round a bend off a roundabout, i was actually trying hard to put all the power down as i was chasing a teg.... which was on F1s ;)

the break away is very predictable, but coming off the roundabout i was having to feather the throttle a lot, i opened it up more at 50 (after having to back out maybe twice already) and it just lit up again and ive got barely any power really

People on the DC2 forum who have tried the Paradas have said they are bordering on dangerous in the wet :/
