Evolution FQ440

No but hot hatches are the new breed of replacements for the rally rep. I was thinking more in line of the a45 amg, RS3 and Golf R really.

ah so the mega expensive super hatches then.

i think the idea of a hot hatch has evolved significantly, but i still dont see them as a rival or comparable to 4wd turbo saloons.

Black box with the warranty is nasty.

Nothing new though. In VCDS on Dad's Audi I've seen the launch control activation counter, I remember reading about another manufacturer that had a launch control usage limit (BMW I think), and there's all those stories about Porsche warranty being invalid from going over the rev range.

Agreed on all fronts, those aren't really traditional hot hatches, and the Evo isn't really a competitor to the mega power hatches apart, performance stats aren't enough to compare IMO, it's a rally bred saloon in a niche category of its own and its main competitor was/has always been the Impreza and to a lesser extent other rally bred/derived performance cars.

Why they are only doing this in a auto is beyond me...

Well it isn't an Auto, it is a sequential twin clutch manual with electronic control that allows automatic shifting.

Whilst it will qualify as an Auto as it can be driven full auto, it isn't one of those power sapping, fluid coupling Auto's and H gate is so old hat these days. Other than a Caterham style car, I wouldn't want any performance car with a traditional manual these days, and I would presume that it's buyers will feel the same.

Not sure about the black box, depends what it has as a condition of use for the warranty. If it says no track days etc then you really are narrowing down it's use to a ridiculous proportion of its available power. It's almost like saying, here have a 440bhp car but you can only use 100bhp or if you break it you are on your own.

Is it true that the FQ.. of FQ440, stands for ******* Quick? or is that a joke that the internet made up?

Yup, it sure does.

There is definitely something different about an Evo over all other performance cars I've owned/driven and is probably one of the cheapest to mod to get to the 'magic' 400/400 mark. I hope the new owners enjoy their 440 as there won't be another Evo like that made again :/

I want to know what they have done to the sst and the rods at over 400 otherwise it is a disaster waiting to happen. As for the price my 360 original bill of sale was very close to 40k and once you do the rods that's another 2k you are not really that far off the 50k with all the other bits
