Evri - terminal damage to electric up and over garage door...

So you have no actual proof of this driver damaging the door.

Good luck.
No proof of any actual 'event' as such but the courier has posted a picture. And she has never left any instructions for leaving in her garage or anything?

Ours isn't an up and over, it's sectional (4 panel) and I've had to reset the thing twice in 15 years. The first time the missus popped the car boot from the fob at the same time as the garage door was lifting and it hooked the boot and locked into position. The second time I'd not oiled it over winter and just the increase in resistance of the wheels (or wheel) left it going so far down, stopping and lifting up to about 30% open.

They are great things and usually very reliable but their travel settings are pretty sensitive, probably rightly so as well tbh.

Was round there earlier. The door inside the garage, connecting to her house is a fire-type door, so sturdy. Someone is out, first thing in the morning.

So you couldn't fix it for her you had to get a man out?

Wherever you got that electric door opener from needs suing. Looks like something bought from wish. The delivery driver did you a favour as if his mits have managed to bend the mechanism then good luck protecting the house from a real threat.

Exactly, no proof.

You have a picture of a parcel next to a damaged garage door.

Do you seriously think that a driver would force open a garage door just to get a delivery, probably worth less than 50p to him, made ?

Delivery driver couldn't give a rats arse. He has 150 drops a day for minimum wage which is why I always plan my deliveries for when someone is going to be in. I am sure a 12 quid dish cloth could have waited.

It doesn't look that strong so assume the delivery driver just thought it was stiff and gave it a shove
It looks like if you pushed the top of the door or tried to lift the very bottom you would get quite some leverage so damage looks like it would be fairly easy to do.

There’s a thought, maybe it was already forced open and the driver just slid the parcel through. Has op’s mum checked anything is missing from the garage or house? Or, and this is a movie I’m sure I’d watch, maybe the driver disturbed a break in, in progress, and the intruder is hidden somewhere in the ops mums house. :D

Personally I'd just get a door company out to it and get a quote

I work for a door company if something goes wrong in a week or 2 for example door comes down and hits someone your mums handyman will be in the poo

Be aware tho if door doesn't meet current safety regs that doors a rite off

As someone previously mentioned he’s probably knocked it up a few latches although that bar does look bent.

Quick fix on ours when it was leaving gap at bottom was to use the manual override (that orange pull string) to manually open the door all the way up to reset its correct start point. Then try the usual button and it should go all way down

Picture isn’t clear but it even looks like it has exact instructions on how to do that on the card attached to orange pull string.

As other have said you have ZERO proof that this happened, suck it up and get the door repaired

Is it really the done thing nowadays that people rush to twitter and the police when there's a problem, before even following the company complaints process and giving them the opportunity to resolve it?

What's the done thing is that people buy stuff for delivery without specifying a safe space to leave it and wonder why things like this happen. These drivers are doing 150+ drops a day often doing 12+ hour days for a pittance and people expect a good quality service and then complain because something has happened when they couldn't be bothered to be in for the delivery.

you won't like this but tweet them and your local police with the pictures and ask how to proceed with criminal damage, tag a local paper for good measure?

You never know Evri support might reach out?

Or try a more rational response like contacting the courier company and see how they respond.

Why the hell would your first response be to include contacting a local paper?

Country is becoming more Karen-esqe by the day
