I find it funny that in this country there is only one right wing party (sensibly) and 3+ left leaning parties (if we consider Lib-dem as left, though really central), but we only really have one or two left leaning publications.

But then we have like a dozen right wing msm outlets.

Hmm Volkische movement indeed.

That's not really the case though is it. As a nation we are inherently centrist/left compared to many other nations. Nobody wants to do away with the NHS or welfare, or free schools. Our political discourse is around a very narrow area of do we spend a bit more on public services and tax people a bit more or do we spend a bit less and allow the market to look after itself with slightly more modest (but still high) taxes. To see it any other way is a bit childish.

The conservatives are not on the world stage a right wing party really.

The democrats in the US don't even demand half of what we as a nation view as the minimum in terms of social provision.

Yet May has the gall to even remark about human rights that we basically invented? Not very conservative of her.

I disagree. Talking to people where I live they are voting based on soundbites and newspaper and news coverage. Strong and Stable wins the day.

Sadly I experienced this earlier when a family friend stated he'd already voted today for May as he'd never vote for a known terrorist, quoting the Daily Mail.

My girlfriend is voting Conservative because they're the only party that aren't going to make her pay more tax.

She gets paid 5p an hour over the NLW.

There was literally no convincing her that such a claim was a pile of horse crap.

What?

A Tory should exemplify what the UK represents, human rights is certainly ingrained into that identity, so May attacking that, is her attacking her own position.

so conservative starts when? :p

what year is the cut off that they "conserve" as it where?

conservatives by most peoples definition would be back to the uk as a separate state not a EU vassal.

Your friend is right - the Daily Mail aren't wrong on those claims. Amazing how many people either don't want to know or don't want to care about that.

May is starting to get pretty close to them.

no shes not.

she has hilariously though targeted the internet, the number one source of radicalisation....and the number 1 source of ire of the people who think it ewill affect them.

This is our future.

Ah the inevitable rise of the Brotherhood of Nod.

It's funny I normally find this forum to have a bit right bias with some rather poorly thought out and emotional positions right of centre. It seems it's now the time for the left to jump up and down making a fuss and whining about stuff which isn't real.
