It'll still be conservative, doubt it'll be hung.
Here's to trying though guys *raises beer*.

It may well end up being a Tory goenrment, with May's face covered in egg. I'll laugh heatedly if the Tories form some weird minority government and have to endure Brexit with their name on it.

100:1 on Corbyn for Prime Minister around January wasn't it?

I've half fancied the idea of a Labour minority government propped up by SNP and LibDems - but it could go really horribly wrong.

Exit poll has error of margin that would mean Tories with a 8 seat majority maximum. Even that would be a disaster. Didn't they go into this with around a 20 seat majority?

You mean the government that

armed the UK with nuclear weapons?

The government that pursued economic austerity to bring the deficit down into surplus...

'The UK deficit started out in 1947 at 3 percent of GDP and then immediately went into surplus, as the Attlee government worked to reduce the huge debt racked up in World War II.'

That considerably reduced total public spending in its term ....

Who supported the Act that made Grammar schools accessible to all who could pass the 11 plus

That accepted that even the with a much cheaper to finance NHS (less old people and less expensive advanced treatments available in the 1940's and 50's) that some payment was needed to pay for the system

'By 1950 costs were so high that the principle of free treatment had to be revised and prescriptions were introduced. Bevan resigned in protest.'

Health care cost rise from circa 1.42% to 7.27% of GDP 1945 -2017

That maintained high defence spending as a % of GDP

'In 1950 Britain spent 6.6 per cent of its GDP on defence: more than any major country except the Soviet Union'

That didn't allow strikes

'strikes were illegal until 1951'

That pursued very errr.. Capitalist policies to make sure there was a tax base to pay for the other policies they were brining in.....

'the government’s policy of prioritising export production for currency reasons.'

(This was at a time when the UK public had to endure food rationing and shortages of other goods)

Yes totally like JC and his Marxist chums.....

(for the record I'm in favour of a National Health System but do think we need an honest conversation about what services it should offer and how it should be paid for)

Single most disingenuous representation of facts I have ever read here. Your own sources show the reality of public spending at that time (discounting the obvious huge peaks during each WW). Skipping over creating the NHS comprehensive education and welfare and icing on the cake calling what virtually all commentators agree was a period of following a Keynesian approach and outright lying to describe it as Austerity is a nail in your coffin for further discussion as far as I am concerned.

C4 coverage pretty entertaining. They're gauging Corbyn's popularity by translating the approval figures into movies. Corbyn this time last year was Sharknado 2. Last month, American Sniper. Couple weeks had reached Erin Brocovich. Earlier today, Jeremy Corbyn has become Moonlight.

I'm sticking with C4 coverage for tonight, I think.

If the exit poll is right, it's going to get messy... No plausible route to government for Corbyn, not many options for May either.

It's going to be a long night.

Typical Neo Marxist response - name calling and no substance lets see your aruments sources and references!

What do you call prioritising exports whilst maintaining rationing, and reducing overall public spending?

The fact remains the Labour government 1945 - 1951 implemented some socialist provisions but weren't stupid enough to go full on Marxist with the economy and pursued very aggressive acts to ensure Britain could reduce its deficit and pay its way - the total opposite of JC.....

If the Liberal Democrats were telling the truth with won't be in a coalition. Which would leave a minority Conservative government.

But I take an exit poll based on 31k people as not being accurate enough.
