explain why Bodybuilding isn't gay

hmmm yes Beckham is looking skinny there, unfortunately that's what many women seem to prefer these days. I suppose many guys don't have the genetics to look like Ryan Reynolds... I'm aiming for the Sebastian Chabal look (smaller beard though!)

Good choice! Chabal rocks! :D (I may be biased though ;))

However, my circle of female friends generally seem to like the decent built look rather than the Beckham look. :) That's the problem with different social circles, we don't necessarily capture all of possibilities.

Looks like he forgot to do his pullups.

To the OP: explain why being gay is anything to be ashamed of. Sexuality is not "gay, straight or bi". In reality, there's no such thing: it is completely unique to each person. Repressing "gay" thoughts or feeling is very unhealthy. You can be married and love your wife, but have brotherly love towards a male friend, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Nout wrong with a bro-mance. Everybody needs a brother from another mother.

Humans are natural endurance runners, and we are actually quite exceptional at it. We are quite weak in the animal kingdom in terms of strength to size, in fact I think a lot of monkeys are physically smaller than us but much stronger.

Chimps are fairly close in size and mass. A simple experiment was done with a device that measure pull strength. Chimps are fairly curious animals and will examine something new. A 9st chimp pulled on the device with more than 5 times as much force as a well built 10.5st man.

For short bursts of strength, many other primates spank humans.

You're right in saying that humans are physiologically adapted to endurance running. Everything points that way. We can shed heat better than other animals. Our legs and feet are well suited to an efficient running motion because they store energy on impact and release it when pushing off for the next stride. We can sustain a trotting pace with a smaller proportion of our maximum effort than other animals. The only animal that can outrun a human is a modern horse and they've been massively engineered by humans for increased speed and endurance. Even that's a close thing - the annual man versus horse marathon is sometimes won by a horse, sometimes by a man.

To talk about the 'natural' human build, it would be a lot closer to David Beckham than any body-builder or power-lifter.

I agree. David Beckham's build is much better suited to the persistance hunting that was crucial to humans for nearly all of the existence of humans.

That isn't to say there's anything wrong with that though, we 'defy' our origins every time we slip on pants for example. :p

I agree with that too. Also, there's not much call for persistance hunting of antelopes and suchlike in England nowadays :)

Of course a chimp would pull more than an equivalent weight man! To even consider the opposite would be crazy.
