Explain 'Zetec' to me.

it has a high CR, but doesnt eat head gaskets - you're confusing it with the earlier 8v FIRE range which was quite partial to a head gasket or two.

but in the world of Joe Bloggs and his car, it doesn't matter what the engine can make, it matters what it does make. If the yammy 1.6 16v can make more power then why doesn't it, to get an edge on the rivals. I forget now, but what is it the 1.6 16v saxo makes.. 120bhp?

Just double checked; current variants are kicking 123bhp.

Zetec just kicked in yo.

Love that!

I have a Mark 6 1.4 Zetec, to my understanding, i may be totally wrong, :p , There 16v, uprated suspension and have a better trim level (alloys, spoiler etc...)

I may be totally wrong though.

Josh

EDIT- Reading all these "Kicked In yo's" making me laugh! Duratorq! Haha!

I had a Focus 1.6 Zetec, very nice for what it was, performance was alright and it had no flat spots like my mates 1.6 Golf.

What does "Ghia" mean? Would that have a slightly worse engine than a Zetec?

I'm looking at a 1.8 Mondeo (2000-2007 shape) as something to save up for... maybe I'll buy one in ~9 months if I can get the work through. Also looking at VW Passat's or Vaxhall Vectra's. I'm sure I'll start a thread nearer the time ;)

No it wouldnt, sorry if I confused things there

I had a Focus Zetec (model) all focus petrols come with Zetec engines 1.4,1.6,1.8,2.0 ect, so do mondeos I think.

Ghia was the higher end model. Top of the range on the Mk1 Focus, second top of the range on the Mk2 Mondeo. Engine identical to a 'Zetec' model.

Ghia WAS a design house which produced some fantastic work for decades and decades...Until it became a trim level of Fords.
