Exposing Heightism

I'm 6ft and when my other half wears heels, I look short :( She's 5' 11" and tends not to wear heels shorter that 4".

All being tall has given me is a sore neck from having to look down at all you small people! ;)

I'd prefer to be a bit shorter and stockier myself, find it very hard to put weight on so always look skinny.

I wouldn't mind the average woman being a bit taller though, makes things less.... awkward.

I'm 6'0 and seeing the abuse and general opinion of people who are short was pretty shocking, worse still, it seems ok to be short as a woman and despise short men.

I just did a quick ask around and it seems that yes, most girls wont date short men, am I just stumbling across this or has it been widely regarded for years as a known thing?

Think its pretty widely known...

I'd mentioned to a girl at work that I like to go to the gym and look after myself and just don't find it an attractive quality in a girl if she lets herself go (as a decent portion of girls seem to do once they hit their late 20s) - she accused me of being judgmental despite her having said that she'd never date a guy shorter than her in heels. I mean at least fat people are (potentially) able to do something about it.. its a lifestyle choice that reflects who they are as a person, their priorities etc... whereas all those short guys out there who this girl (and many like her) wouldn't ever consider are simply stuck.

On the other end of the spectrum tall girls can have a tough time too if they're circa 6 ft... though there is less of a stigma I'd guess than short guys would have to deal with.

I don't feel tall at around 6'1" - fortunately I'm quite broad too.

Manlets are usually taken the **** out of - it's just the way alpha males can establish themselves ;)

Looking down the list of tweets, the fact that hardly any of them are actually using their own name says it all really. Immature and stupid.

LOL!!!! Bill Gates 5'8, Mark Zuckerberg 5'7, Sergey Brin 5'9, Richard Branson 5'8, Alan Sugar 5'6.

Those are outliers... and interestingly enough all self made.

IIRC there have been plenty of studies showing that taller guys tend to be more successful career wise... though the majority of people aren't setting up their own companies - the majority are reliant on impressing their superiors, demonstrating 'leadership' etc.. and progressing up an organisation - perhpas taller guys have the edge/confidence to do this. Perhaps short guys feel more driven/feel like they have something to prove when starting up something themselves.
