Extinction Rebellion: Jury acquits protesters despite judge's direction

They wouldnt need to arrest them if they just stopped them doing it. Or if they tried to force their way through, a bit of a truncheon would be a good lesson for these toffs.

So numerous complaints to ipcc officers suspended and having to attend hearings for uncessecery force etc

Again police resources wasted.

Not if they got physical with the police, which would be the only way past. They are entitled to defend themselves.

But they don't get physical with the police.

Unless you're suggesting the police send enough officers to make q human wall

Which again wastes police resources which is what they want

Then it isn't really about the climate is it. It's just the excuse to have a hipster riot.

Plus I bet if someone like Tommy Robinson and his crew rocked up to throw paint everywhere they would be all over them and charging them. Rules for some and not for others I guess.

It’s an effective protest?

And yes, if the Robbinson lot turned up, who have shown time and time again they do not have the discipline or intelligence to behave themselves in the XR do, they almost certainly would get themselves arrested by instigating some kind of public order offence, shoving and pulling Nazi salutes. The rules are the same, some are just better at following them and playing the game than others. It’s a basic concept, concerning you don’t understand the difference.

Because they have enough power to be deemed to be above the law. The next test will be when they "accidentally" physically injure someone. We'll see how that goes. My guess is that they'll get away with it as long as their victim is a "white" man, especially if he works for an energy company or a financial company.

Such is the great white mans burden.

But XR aren't behaving themselves at all...

They are doing criminal damage and obstructing traffic right infront of the cops and they aren't doing anything about it. Laws are supposed to apply equally to all. Or is trashing a building fine if you have some likes on social media?

Hopefully they get sued for 1000s by the property owners. But then most of them are rich kids so they won't care.

Cry more about it.

The police appear to be sensibly weighing up the damage done with the cost of violent enforcement, they aren’t smashing windows or hurting anyone, doing no permanent damage, damage that can easily and effectively compensated for with very few resources used comparatively.

Life isn’t like it was in school when you were holding your hand up dobbing in all your class mates who didn’t like you. “Mis mis they are breaking the rules stop them!!! Missss!!!”

The sooner you recognise this reality and actually learn that life is a bit more complex than that, you’ll stop questioning very black and white situations and see all the infinite grey.

the judge can clearly see exactly how the law was broken, why bother with a jury if the evidence is 100% conclusive captured on film and undeniable or just start issuing on the spot fines like you would for "littering"

if it were a group of rough looking poor people doing the same thing they wouldn't get away with it

Because they have a right to a trial by jury

I mean who doesn't want this ******* to have a bit of trungeoning

Or see this guy get an electric education?

After all we aren't seeing this at any XR protest are we?

XR are smart enough to exercise self control and unified enough to follow a peaceful plan

Anti lockdown Robinson crew is just a disseperate rabble

I swear they need to teach basic legal principles to children starting secondary school so they can understand and are introduced to topics that otherwise people like this poster who clearly has no clue how the law can work beyond “omg that’s illllllleeeegggaaaalll!” and crying about lack of police action, before they start trying to discuss it. It would save those of us with some forethought to actually study a topic before commenting a lot of bother and drown out a lot of uneducated noise.

Try here dude.

Alternatively it could be that people absolutely disagree with your concept that "if crime causes the police too much hassle then the police shouldn't deal with it", maybe because they were brought up to believe that people who do wrong should be punished when caught, which apparently is an odd concept nowadays in our infinite grey world, I mean appeasement of criminal activity has never gone wrong ever has it!

Oh and the Golden Rule wouldn't count here as a conviction of those XR folks wouldn't be classed as against general public policy (i.e. public support) as only a minority support them or a silly upholding of a law - which is the most common use for it currently i.e. stopping Ye Olde Laws from causing issues today.

Anyway, the actual result of our grey world is that thousands of people feel perfectly entitled to disrupt London, including causing criminal damage, knowing they'll be able to walk away scot-free all because "it's too much hassle and we can just clean it up tomorrow" - and people wonder why so many kids today have no respect for law and order :D

But also cause loads of extra pollution by all traveling there, blocking roads up, making loads of noise, trampling all over parks, probably leaving litter. So doing the opposite of what they claim to be about.

The message this sends out is if you can put a big enough mob together you can do whatever you like in the UK.

Well yes, that's the obvious reality to anyone with two brain cells surely?

Short of giving the police GPMG's what are they going to do when outnumbered 10, 100, 1000 to 1?

Water cannons etc like every other country :p

(Which would also make great youtube).

What is the point in the police force if they don't enforce the laws.

Nope it's the accepted reality.

It's why we have riot laws and the government shoulders the cost in such circumstances

Let it blow itself out and deal with the damage is usually the safer option

They can they will just let you go home and turn up and aren't you later when there just you not 100s of your mates.

When they don't even show up to look in to more serious crimes? Yea right.

Unless someone is dead or used the wrong pronoun they aren't interested.
