That doesnt make it less boring, wow it was even boring when i read it all over again, what an awful awful post

Wow, what a ****. might even drop you a couple of quid just in sheer objection to this ****.

A girl on facebook recently was asking for donations for WALKING 10 miles....10 miles. Had she of run it with a midget on her back I would have donated.

Yeah, thats the point of charity, to entertain you.

People honestly expect people to donate money just because they are going to sit on their ass and play a game for 24 hours straight?

A lot of gamers could do that if they got in to a game, I really fail to see what is donation worthy here.

I am all for raising money, I've done it myself numerous times, but make it a challenge :(

Did you actually read what I'm attempting to do within that 24 hour window?

Probably not.

Incidentally I only read 33% of your post, seems fitting :)

Just out of curiosity, do you know what Extra Life is all about?

It's not just about a few people sitting on their "arse" playing games.

I have to agree guys sorry cant really donate to a challenge so easy i wish i could get a day to play a game for 24 hours, let alone have people to pay me to do it even for a good cause. I sponsor things i respect and things i want to see happen and i dont really care if you do or do not play a game for 24 hours. Just being honest, i dont really like giving to charity at the best of times anyway, but its worth it if someone loses 5 stone or runs a double marathon or something.

I have to agree guys....blah blah blah.

I dont buy it chum, I think you see people doing something for charity and it *****s your conscience, makes you feel uneasy. You make it silly, because in your head it charity is meant to be blood sweat and tears isn't it? Because if it isn't, if it can also be doing something you enjoy but making it arduous, then even YOU could do it right? Nah, silly notion lets wait for the blood sweat and tears - probably never come anyway.

Respect to the guy for doing it but doing anything for 24 hours is an effort. Real gamers, those who rock up to LANs dragging mountain dew and a sleeping bag dont make 24 hours without curling up in the corridors. Just because you enjoyed CS for 3 hours doesnt make 24 hours 'just a bit longer'. Anyway, I wasn't going to sponsor but you convinced me otherwise in this sentence:

I sponsor things i respect and things i want to see happen and i don't really care if you do or do not play a game for 24 hours.

which makes me laugh. I know this is whizzing over your head like the rest of life, but what the hey - Red Nose Day isn't about how funny you found the sketches, those guys running a marathon as donkeys or jumping static line out of a plane aren't desperately hoping their waggly tails catch your attention and entertain you sufficiently that you'll be lost in a moment of delirious gregariousness and pry open your wallet - well, thats not true about red nose day, but then as you've proved, even when it comes to sick kids, people are ***** who need a reason to give - thanks for proving that point. Whatever, I hate to be the bearer of non-centric news, not giving you a hearty chuckle or a warm fuzzy glow when you get tucked into bed is not top of this guys priority list.

Anyway, you need post no more, you have indirectly caused the donation of 12 bucks by virtue of being so self-centred, which i'm guessing is about as close to charity as you're going to get. the kids thank you, you may now rest that conscience.

Seeing as you've seemingly missed the entire point of charity donations, off you pop. 3 posts in and you'd started trolling.

I agree with ultra tbh if someone is going about asking for sponsorship for charity they have to be doing something that requires good effort otherwise id just be donating straight the the charity.

Why hasn't Ultra been warned for his participation in this thread tbh.

24hrs gaming in one sitting, whilst it isn't running a marathon, is still a lot more than a normal session is it not???

You wouldn't see people moaning because someone is doing a sponsered 24 hour silence...I mean it's not that difficult is it, all you gotta do is keep your mouth shut

In case you missed the point of my post: It's about the gesture of actually doing something, not what you are doing, that is what people donate for. Think of all the silly/pointless activities people do on red nose day.

Id love to see you gaming for 24 hours non-stop. 'good effort' really?

Absolutely this, really.

Surely doing anything for 24 hours straight requires a fair bit of effort no?

Do something gimmicky if you want to attract the crowd that actually donates because you're doing something rather than them wanting to just donate directly to the charity.

Play retro games and stream them or something to those lines.

I didn't say I can anywhere in my post (but I could with food and toilet breaks like the op said if I really wanted too) just that I don't see this as much effort personally, I regularly game 6-8hours a night and the only reason I stop is its late and need to be up for work, I would be surprised if most the people on benefits playing mmo like WoW don't pull a 24 hour session on weekends without a second thought on a regular basis.

Its just a question of how much free time you have imo.

the point being, are you wiped after your 6-8 hours? When I pull a sesh like that I know I am ready for bed. If i had to do it all again I'd definitiely get fed up of doing it. Do it all again after that? No thanks you couldnt pay me. Do it one more time to make it 24 hours? Not a chance. Thats an effort in my book.

Yeah I know what your saying its on the individual how long you can manage, I'm fine after 8 only stop due to it being late on a night but I do it most nights of the week feels like a normal amount of hours to me, I'm too addicted thats my problem.

Thanks for the donation :)

It's not about entertainment, it's about effort. I've raised thousands over the years myself but it should always be something that makes people think it's going to be a challenge or "**** me, I wouldn't want to do that!" For example, 3 guys from work are cycling across Europe and some other countries, they received money. Earn it! nothing worse than people just asking for a handout.

Did you actually read what I'm attempting to do within that 24 hour window?

No I read it all, I just think that this isn't challenging enough to be worthy of my cash. OOOO I'm going to finish a computer game and get 100% achievements in 24 hours. It doesn't really bother me what % of my post you read, what you're attempting is something my 15 year old brother could do :D

Id love to see you gaming for 24 hours non-stop. 'good effort' really?

Big woop! Most old time hardcore gamers will have pulled 24 hour stints on games like Ultima Online, Eve Online, CS, etc. I think my record was around 30 hours (eating and drinking at my desk) then about an hour getting proper food and back at it for another 10 ish hours.
