Extrememly annoyed with XFX

you are assuming that the person at xfx has looked at the specs and done a proper comparison - i think you might have set the email out better with some evidence that the card you have recieved is actually an inferior one to the one to be replaced...

short sharp emails without evidence isn't going to help you, if fact it is going to likely get 'sorry, that's all we can do for you sir' response...

Get benchmark result links. Get the proof that the card they have given you isn't a match for your old hardware. Tell XFX that you are now rendered useless in a SLI set up that has went wrong and there is no way the 7900GTS and 7950GT can pair up any longer and ask if there is a solution to the problem by sending the 7950 and 7900 back for some sort of deal on the 8800 series.

Tell them that they have really messed up your system with this 7950 GT and it's useless with the rig you have as the much older card that's in there is better and faster.

Try to be as nice as possible with them as your fate is in their hands. If you don't get what you want and be abusive about it then you should realise that no one will be fired, no one will get in trouble for it and all you will have is something eat away at you. Life is too short, so if you are not successful just take it on the chin, stay happy and do whatever is needed to get your system back to a level where you are content again. Oh and never do business with the scumbags again ;) .
 
So to sum up this thread, guys NO SWEARING off because he didn’t get a freebie from XFX.

Oh Noess !!! Nobody buy from XFX again is it's so unfair for them not to send out faster cards as replacements. :rolleyes:

If you rejected a Ferrari because it didn't work or something similar and they gave you a Ford back you wouldn't be happy would you? I'm annoyed because I've been sent something that is worth less and less powerful then what I had originally. I'd be perfectly happy if I got a straight replacement 7900 GTX from them.

He's saying it's unfair because they sent him a SLOWER card as a replacement. Not faster, not the same speed, but slower.

Yeah, how dare they send him the closest available card and not a free upgrade to a faster card, thats like the worst customer service ever.. :p
 
The point is though that manufacturers have to replave with equal, or better performance, they should not have sent him the 7950 GT as it is SLOWER as has been said above, therefore if they did not have a card that equals the GTX he sent back, then they should have sent him a better performing one, not the 7950 GT.
 
Yep.

Normal practice is for manufacturers to replace with the next fastest card if the broken card is no longer available. So it's fair to say that XFX CS has fallen below the standard we would expect.

Example: When my P4 1.6A died, I got sent a 1.8A as a replacement (1.6A no longer available).
 
Yep, it's not the OP's fault that XFX have stopped manufacturing his card.

Equal or better. NOT slower.

I think the best you will get is a 7950GX2 (if they have any spare) or the 8800GTS 320. You'll probably have to push hard though.

Don't give up, what they did is just wrong, and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

I would agree if there was a similar card available which is slightly faster but there isn’t, only faster cards available cost significantly more so it doesn’t apply.

It doesn't matter if the replacement card is £1 or £10k more, XFX have to stump up an equal or better product. It also has to be compatible with the rest of the system.

An alternative is to part refund the product. If the graphics card lasted 1 year then you would get back 5/6 of the purchase price (since EU law says that products have to be designed to last 6 years, there are exceptions but not computer hardware). XFX will not want to do that as it will be more expensive.

The final option would be to reject the offer and go to the small claims court. Claim for a single card which has the same performance as you currently do under SLI.
 
This is going slightly off topic but still relates to this thread. Just wondering why do companies offer lifetime warranties when they cant deliver a replacement product. Like in this thread it shows it screws up peoples SLI setups. False advertising if you ask me.

I had a smilar issue with some Geil ram (2 x 512mb PC4400 Ultra-x, Paid £159 well over a year ago). 8 months after purchase from OCUK it became faulty, contacted OCUK and they said they would take it and swap it or send it to Geil. Waited nearly 2 months then started chasing the matter up, OCUK said they didnt have any replacement in stock to send to me and Geil was telling them that they have stopped making the ram.

I am not blaming OCUK for anything but more Geil, all OCUK could do was offer me something similar priced, which at the time there wasnt much choice of due to DDR coming to an end and DDR2 becoming mainstream. So OCUK offered me 1 Gig of Pc3200 ram or £84.00 cash as they said they couldnt give the full amount.

Anyways I took the £84.00 cash refund and forked out more monies and got a new setup. It screwed up my overclocked opteron setup though which was running nicely at 9x315 1:1.

Just sharing my experience. :)
