Eye Floaters

TriedandTested - Hey, how'd you get a picture of my eyes! Yeah, that's what they're like. I've got used to mine and they rarely bother me now.

I've had them all my life but recently had some follow up surgery and all the membrane that was removed is now floating about both my eyes! \o/

For those that DON'T have them, this is what we have to put up with:

And now imagine them moving around as you look around. Highly annoying!

Now smear your monitor with vaseline, and you can see what it's like for those of us with real vision problems :p

Got them. usually only see them when sunbath looking at bright sky (through sun glasses).

Cna be fun to try and track them or control them. I tried an experiment by spinning around really fast and then stairing at the sky to see if I could induce enough momentum to make them spin and orbit.... felt very sick.

I've had them, thought they where normal.

When you close your eyes, and you see like blobs and stuff of different colours, changing colours etc.., what are they? I get that sometimes, and in the dark, 100% black, then changed to bright green lol.

that sounds more like you have been taking something matey :p

on a serious note, yeah i get them too, normally if i concentrate on looking at something really hard or if i squint i can see them too.

Cant say ive ever had one. Sounds weird anyway ( and annoying ).

It is. I have many. If I look in one direction and then the opposite direction, I will get a dozen or more sliding past. Annoying, but nothing can be done about them. They're material in the fluid in your eyes, so you're stuck with them. Wiggly black lines, like small lengths of cotton floating about.

Not asking for any medical advice on these just wondering if anyone else here experiences these. For those that don't know, they are basically little hair like squiggles which appear in your line of vision. I first noticed one in my right eye back in May, now I have one in my left eye too. Very annoying.

I suggest seeing a competent optometrist, just in case they're a result of something else. I've had mine for as long as I can remember - I expect I was born with them. They're just bits of debris in the fluid in your eyes. I don't know if it's normal for them to form later in life.

Ah, yes it is:

So it's probably fine, but usual caveats apply. An eye test might be useful - they aren't just for sight.

I'm not sure, but I think that's your brain making stuff up in preference to a blank.

"Hey, Steve, we're not getting anything from the eyes. Lids are down."

"No worries, just make some coloured patterns up and use those instead. Better than plain black."

"OK, will do."

Although the bright green you see in the dark might mean that you've evolved night vision :)

I have them in both eyes, always have. I don't notice them really.

Same here, had them all my life. They don't bother me because I don't notice them unless I purposely focus for them. Floater chasing was a favourite pastime of mine as a kid.

I've had them all my life. I can make them appear when I want to but they come on their own sometimes. I've heard they are totally natural :) I used to think other people could see them so when I was 3 I was like telling my mum to look at that thing that I was making go round the room! :D
