Eye Floaters

Oh squiggly line in my eye fluid.
I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision.
But when I try to look at you, you scurry away.
Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line,
it's alright, you are forgiven.

Beat me to it. :D

Only just saw this thread.

never had this, although I have very long eyelashes for a guy and they get in the way.

The only other thing that I get is what can only be described as someone pooring glitter into my eyes. Not sure its this visual snow purely because they aren't fast moving, its like a snow globe.

Its like static, millions of tiny dots. really annoying.

Im unfortunate enough to have that too; I find its worse at night and more tolerable in daylight.

Its something that I will just have to get used to - its not serious apparently.

Puzzling thing is though my eye is 100% healthy according to 5 different opthamologists. But I do get tinnitus in my ears (only notible when I go to sleep, thankfully.), which apparently a lot of people with visual snow/static also have. Some scientists think it "may" be related to nuerones in the brain

a few months ago i got hit in the eye with a lump of concrete with quite a lot of force.. a shard of sharp concrete pierced my eye, it didnt go very far in. the doctor got it out with a needle, but i now have floaters floating across my eye everytime i look from right to left. noticed it when i was watching the airshow on a nice blue background, other than when im looking at the sky my eye seems to filter them out. annoying and i wish i had worn goggles when using a sledge hammer now.

YES!! iv had this since i was a kid, i can see a little fish like shape in my vision, when i look up, it floats up, when i look left, it floats left, i dont see it all the time, its just sometimes i catch it. I used to love trying to chase the thing :)

i just saw tinnitus mentioned, argh, how annoying is that when you're trying to get to sleep :( lol

its like sitting in a room with the whine of a crt tv in the background on no channel

Tinnitus is horrible, I have had it since the middle of May. It is my own fault, too many times of listening to the Ipod too loud, please turn the music down people. I would not wish this upon anyone else. i went for a hearing test and luckily my hearing is still fine, but I beg you please avoid tinnitus at all costs, it is horrible.

Was your tinnitus noise induced? Or have you always had it?

I believe I've always had it, but its bugged me more so in recent years.

Its worse when sleeping at night, and its worse in my right ear, so I always sleep on my back because when I sleep on my right side, it makes ringing sounds inthe morning.

As mentioned before tinnitus is horrible; and as such I do things which try to help and not make it worse

I do not listen to Ipods/MP3s on earphones, I avoid night clubs and discos. I play music on my computer through normal speakers - but at a reasonable volume.

Thankfully, its not too bad, I know people must get it worse, so im thankful mine is only affecting me at night in silence.

My friends all go out clubbing a few times a week till 3am in the morning, they all listen to Ipods... and they think im antisocial for not going... :(

and when they reach 50, they will have little hearing left, im assuming the ear degrades over time, it wont suddenly just go, well thats the way i perceive it anyway.

when i listen to music on my phone, i have it at normal volume, never really have it loud. and i try to avoid nightclubs, havent been to one in ages, i usually leave town when the pubs shut. but im glad my tinnitus is equal in both ears. im not sure why ive got it, probably due to being subjected to loud family parties when i was younger, also i had to have gromits for some reason im not sure why. i hope there will be a cure for it one day, maybe an ear transplant. i'd definately pay for it to be done!

Yes that is very true. I never really went to nightclubs anyhow, I hate them, I much prefer pubs were the music is at much better levels. I have been to a couple of night clubs since my Tinnitus first started but it did not really effect it anyway. I no longer use ipods and only listen to music through my laptop speakers (they are not very powerful at all). I am 99.99999% sure it was the ipod that did it for me, I used to listen to it for hours every day when commuting to and from uni, at silly volumes, and when working on projects and essays on the computer. Tinnitus is horrible but I am lucky as I cannot hear it during the day, like you it is only at night time when I can hear it, when I am in total silence. I know there are quite a few researchers working on it and they are confident of finding a medicinal cure.

argh work rant..

The guy at work says he has had surgery for these! What the hell?

Is it just me that works with idiots?

My mum had tinnitus, was a few years back and it really got her down, I think it went for her, so there may be some hope!

If I am in a totally quite room I can here a bit of buzzing, not sure if it is normal or what, but in everyday life it doesn't bother me.

I wouldn't mind that as much - mine are black, not translucent.

My optician told me if you see black eye floaters then it can be a precursor to or an indication of a detached retina.

This is not medical advice, but if I were you, I'd have a word with an optician.
