You could argue that he wasn't technically the last man, if you drew a radius from Rio, I think it was him camera side(?):)

Edit: Dirty Russians v The Best Team in Europe on BBC1 now:)

Good win today, the side looked far more classy than they have in a while.

My only gripes would be Saha (who still wastes great chances and can't pick out a pass to the other front man) and then Evra. From what I've seen so far Evra has very little to offer the side and further annoys me that Fergie bought him over any MF player. He looks weak, can't cross and doesn't inspire confidence on the ball. Taking off Richardson, who'd had an absolute stormer of a match and looks like a future contender for a LW place, for Evra was a waste of time. Richardson was on a hattrick and looked very bright.

Silvestre also kept bombing forward a bit much, which effectively took away Richardson's ability to run at players down the wing.

Really really happy to see Park back in the side, his appetite and ability to run at teams is excellent and I hope he'll get a lot more first team football in the coming weeks.

Rio didn't do anything in midfield to suggest he should be there and Rooney was basically out of the game playing the deep role again. Either play VdS or Saha - Rooney works far better with a front man than RvN or Saha paired together.

Was Ronaldo's exclusion punishment for poor performances and the Benfica incident do you reckon?

[edited for stupidity]

I heard he was playing there on the radio on my way home & thought it was a joke. When I saw him actually in that role I couldn't believe it. Not only has Fergie tried to convert a decent(ish) striker to CM, he's now using a more than decent CB to fill the void. Very odd choices:)

You complain that Ronaldinho or Shevchenko would be played in net, then request that your keeper be played up front?

Damn my lack of checking my typing... There's too many 3 letter abbreviations in the EPL these days ;) RvP, RvN, VdS.

I meant RvN ;)

I'd love to see Alan Smith in the Scholes role - he can still finish really well and with a strong DMF to back him up it could well work. Not letting him play in an attacking role is a real waste.

It's a worrying sign to me that SAF and CQ seem to think converting players to completely new positions is a better option than buying players with experience in the positions we need them for.
