F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Williams have unveiled their new paintjob for '09

It's really quite empty of sponsors.... but thats not the worst bit. A couple of new things have arrived on the car - vertical shark fins either side of the copckpit..

Yuch.

Anyone know if public are allowed to show up for the 'shakedown' days at Silverstone? Just tried calling but there doesn't appear to be anyone there at the moment.

No. The public are (well, were) only allowed to the in season testing 3 days they used to have in the summer. Pre season shakedown tests are all meant to be private. They dont want anyone and his dog comming along and stealing there ideas. Think the only change to this has been the group test this year at Jerez where the public were allowed in.

And no shock again with the "Great looking Test colours, total rubbish looking actual colours" of the Williams. This is what, the 3rd or 4th year they have done this?

I don't think it looks that bad. It isn't as nice as the testing colours. But I don't see how it can be called rubbish.
Those little fins are interesting

I sure hope those cockpit fins get banned before the start of the season as from a medical extrication point of view, I can't see them helping us one bit from where they are located!

I guess the blue Williams are using is RBS blue and that will go when RBS goes!

The mass damper? That was suppose to counter the bumps on the track and was banned when Mclaren complained that it was movable ballast- mainly because their own version was rubbish!
The atlasf1 forums thing is just a joke, I would assume- just someone poking fun at the large front end?

You mean the mass damper that Ferrari successfully had banned by claiming it was a moveable aero device.

I like the colour scheme - it's reminiscent of the good old days of Rothmans sponsorship.

Awwwww, now please don't tell me you have anything to do with marshalling.....

Quite like the Williams livery actually.

Techincally an FIA appointed doctor at Silverstone has to be a marshal to be allowed to do what he/she does, so yes I am a marshal.

I'm loving this years Fisher Price shapes and colour schemes. They reak of old school in a good way.

I'm heading over to the test tomorrow at Jerez :D Weather isn't great down here at the moment, occasional rain showers, but might be able to see the effect of the new rear wings in the rooster tails ;)
