So I'm now 30 mins into just trying to play this game...

I'm fed up for hearing the intro track, trying to login into a Window Live account I don't want, trying to create some Windows Gamers account I don't want, trying to register a game against a Windows Games account I don't wont.

I'm about to give up...

Can any explain what Codemasters in their infinite (we only program for consoles) wisdom actually want me to do to play their game?

ps: I'm also fed up of following links in the games to Windows Live which open a browser with invalid pages!

FINALLY DONE IT! Codemasters need to be shot for this unecessarily painful system!

Set-up an offline GFWL account, takes 2 minutes, will never bother you again.

What's the big problem with GFWL anyway, most people allready have an account (through Xbox, old hotmail/live mail or previous games), all you do is sign in once and very very rarely it does something, like update the game for you.

surely once you've registered once you dont need to go through the same process over and over again? Its like my Xbox live, register my account and when I switch on my Xbox it launches all of my profile and online service. Simple

The main thing that ****es me off with recent codemasters titles, is that for some reason these days, they've decided that we need a fancy rendered 3d menu system. That of course means that we have to wait for the game to load the flippin thing. Ideal when you want to quickly exit the game and you have to sit and wait for the menu to load so you can then walk through a 3d trailer just to click exit, then finally get back to a 2d menu, to press exit once again.

Great game though!

I don't have an XBox, so it's confusing when I have to create XBox Live accounts?!! It's even more confusing when it says I have to do X, Y or Z, and gives me a link to click to open a browser... to invalid web pages....

Very much Drama queen, you put in a username and password and you're ready to go, hardly the end of the world is it? It's not an Xbox live account, it's just a Microsoft account, surely you have one from somewhere, everyone has an old hotmail/live mail account?

My first time with GFWL PC was awful, I'd never heard of it before and although I had a hotmail account it still took nearly three hours to get it to work.

I kept getting sent to the same pages over and over again. In the end I eventually found out that I needed a patch for Windows XP but even then it was still a pain. Eventually I got it to work by going through an XBOX link.

Not at all... Here's an example run down...

- Start the game... Watch the the 10 seconds of intro videos... Get background music.... Ask for a Window Live account.
- Take option to create Live Account.
- Update loaded... Couple of minutes...
- Says needs to restart game to take effect.
- NO OPTION to restart/exit game... So out comes Task Manager.

- Says games needs a Gamer Live Microsoft something or else I've never heard of account? Offers link. So take link...
- Browser opens to invalid/non-existant page.
- Browse internet trying to work out what to do.
- Restart game again in an attempt to see if more help is in there...

- Faff around for several minutes wonder why all the references to XBox, when I DO NOT EVEN OWN an XBox.
- Finally by doing lots of random things...
- Start the game... Watch the the 10 seconds of intro videos... Get background music.... Ask for a Window Live account. Enter Live account...
- Asks for game key... Enter game key...
- Play game...

No one else thinks spending 20-30 minutes on the above it poor design? Including links to create XBox accounts which don't even work (invalid URLs)?

I must be fussy then...

Cry baby. Just create an account and get over yourself.

Also 20-30 minutes? lol takes 5-10 at most! If you've got learning difficulties then I'm sorry for being blunt.

Seriously... It was terrible. Unintuitive and unfriendly. Offering links to broken URLs to sites suggesting you're creating a console related account? It took me 20-30 minutes of faffing around.

ps: Enough of the childish insults... Grow up! I'm guessing you're a spotty little teenager with that attitude...

I've already got a windows live account from playing GTAIV earlier in the year. I just bought batman arkham asylum and it took me at least 15 minutes faffing around to get it to work. VERY frustrating...

Watch out, Valentino will declare you are 'special needs'

I created a GFWL account when I installed GTA4, and I've never had to touch it since. Every time I play a game that uses it it pops up that I am signed in offline, and causes no problems.

I'm not even sure if I created one (Game For Windows Live?) or not in my debacle! Once it started telling me to do things at URLs that didn't even exist, and to exit a game without an exit option, it all got rather messy! :)

Here's how I do it.

Start up F1 2010 for the first time, put in username and password, enter CD-key, fine. GFWL then retreats and lets me load the game.

Skip intro movies with 1 click of a button, wait for the game to load up. Play.

Oh look, the game wants to update. Well, let it download for a minute, then restart the game. Skip intro movies, wait on it loading, play.

You are doing something very wrong if GFWL asks you to sign in every time. Do you not understand GFWL offline profiles either? You click on it, enter any made up username and password you want, and GFWL will never bother you again unless it wants to update the game.

Even if you do want to sign up to a proper account, do you need the game to hold your hand? Can't you go onto https://signup.live.com/ and just sign up yourself?
