Do you work at EMA?
Not wholly relevant here, but Williams just announced that Sir Frank's wife Virginia has finally lost her two and a half year battle with cancer. Rotten start to the year.
even in 2009 when they had a car the best part of a second a lap faster at the start of the season, they still nearly messed it up..
I know they've got far more resources now, but Honda weren't exactly holding back, and even last season they only got slower and slower..
You don't reach the limit of a car when the regulations have just changed drastically. They're still developing those same cars now.Completely different situation, they got to the limits of the car and money.
Well, apart from the fact it wasn't Honda, I meant the time the team was Honda. The car seldom got faster as the year went on.Honda were holding back they had left and didn't even have their engine in the car
If we get to Melbourne and the Mercedes is challenging for the win, then that's worked. It really didn't work in 2008 for BMW, when from very early on in 2008 (late-spring) they went all-out for 2009 - the 2009 car was a bit of a stinker in comparison, and had they stuck to developing the 2008 car, they had a very real chance of making it a 3-way challenge between Massa, Hamilton and Kubica. Only time will tell.Yep Merc got slower, like lot's of teams they practically abandon developement on the old car to concentrate on the new car if it's not in the hunt for anything significant and just use the old car to test and float ideas for the next season. Even Ferrari have done that.
