F1 2018

Does the VR element really add to the game?
I have an Oculus myself, but have yet to play a racing game in VR, would very much like to.

Any recommendation?

I play Project Cars 2 in VR and its fantastic. When you are fighting for the first corner its incredible, especially with cockpit style cars like a Caterham. The ability to "look through" the corner is excellent.

The ONLY criticism I'd have is not the games themselves but the resolution of the Rift which makes long straights a bit blurry (and therefore harder to see the corners if you don't know the tracks well).

Racing sims and VR are incredibly immersive, it takes it to another level.

Sitting in a car on Assetto corsa and looking around the cockpit is just "wow"
Also being able to see through corners and the sense of speed is just incredible.

If you haven't tried it yet you're missing out.

Assetto corsa, Dirt rally, Project cars 2 are some of the best. you need a good wheel to really make the most of it though.

Got the Wheel covered G920.

Now you guys have got me curious about it :)

But the age old AC Vs PC2. I can never make my mind up about which one to get!

In fairness I did ask this question already in another thread and I am non the wiser :D

If you have a wheel and vr already you got to try it out.

Pcars 2 has cracking vr support out of the box, I hear a.c. has after mucking about with it but I never gave it that long.
I would go with pcars personally.

Has anyone had any graphical issues on some tracks ?, I'm getting a purple/oli slick affect in China on everything. Also can you change your carrier difficultly mid season? The only place I can see the menu is the "at your workstation" between session but its greyed out.

Wining races in a Williams with a 30secs+ gap at 50%/Medium difficulty is not very fun.

It's changeable between race weekends only I believe.

Im now having the same problem now I've calibrated my old driving force pro wheel. Got to say im enjoying it now I've got that sorted. Just wondering if its worth bringing the pc to the living room to see if it looks any good on my 4k tv?

i imagine it will look great at 4k if you have the graphics horsepower.

anyone else not able to select a rival? am six races into my second season and not been able to select one since the end of the last season round about brazil i think it was.

What are the aa options in this year's?

Last years taa was a blurry mess.
I use DSR and the game looks stunning, I've even grown to like the halo :P
Compressed jpegs do not do it justice:

Cars' motion is pretty tasty as well this year, really hope Codies will continue to enrich these kind of animations for wings, suspension, body flex etc

really annoyed they stuck with taa again this year. 2016 looked so much better. DSR might be a shout but im already on 4k so might be a bit taxing.

Think I will bite when its under 20 quid.

I caved in and brought this on friday as I had a day off. Started a 2018 championship rather than a career as all the upgrading and media and practice objectives are a little too much and distract me from actually enjoying the racing.

Is there anyway to change the difficulty mid championship? I started on 75% but I'm winning in a Haas so need to up it but cant seem to find any stage during the weekend it will let me change it. i'm 2 races in but at 50% that's quite a lot of time and I'm only going to get better as I play more and learn setting up the cars. Having to restart a championship half way through as I improve seems a little backwards.

You need to be between race weekends then while on the loading screen it gives you option to open settings to change it.

I really don't get this game... how are some people able to set such blistering times without any assists.. its just beyond me...
I just blip the throttle and the bloody thing just goes careering around.

Im around 2 seconds a lap off the fastest pace on Australia at the moment.... might as well be 10 seconds :\

Yeah playing without traction control on a controller is impossible I swear, I keep it on medium to preserve my sanity :p

Is anyone else getting weird slow down? Sometimes, completely randomly, the game will just begin to stutter out of nowhere and only stops if i quit to the menu and go back in? It's very strange seeing as the rest of the time it runs flawlessly at 60 fps.

Got to say this looks very impressive, seriously thinking about picking it up.
