F1 2023

Finished the story mode yesterday, don't think it's worth the time investment personally. Played through the 1st braking point as well,
your time is better invested in career mode or online. Unless you're a, must get the next cutscene fiend like myself.

I'll finally crack on with career mode today and probably avoid online until I bother to get an actual racing wheel.

what controller are you using ?

I cant use a wheel here (which is annoying)

so i use an X-Box One controller, its "ok" but i want a wheel !

Yeah I was looking at a few but ultimately have invested in my monitor as priority over the racing wheel.

I'll probably get the Cammus C5 as it's basically the best price for entry level direct drive I believe.

So I saw people on TV saying it was much improved in terms of vehicle physics and driving like an actual F1 car (supposedly from the drivers themselves). Not that we are F1 drivers but can people share their thoughts on this? Also is it much better with a controller like theyre saying? The latter question might swing me to get it or not especially as I have some steam wallet funds ready following a large csgo inventory sale!

It's much more responsive with a controller this year vs last years game.
I'd also recommend an ea sub for a month (or if they sell codes for it not sure) to try out the game 1st (14.99 for the month) but still cheaper than buying the game outright if you end up disappointed with it. Saved me with the new PGA game as I found it not to my liking.
But if you like your F1 games and are entrenched in steam.. hard to say if I'd recommend it unless you know you'll spend lots of hours on it.

That's very encouraging to here on the controller side. Never had the funds for a full sim rig and decent wheels sadly!

Didn't know about the EA pass - will look into it thanks :)

Sure there are ways to use vpn and get the EA sub cheaper but yeah I just paid up :)

as it's got me access to the entire library for the month so wasn't too bad.
I saw a tiktok video of someone making a comparison of controller last year vs this year I'll try and find it!

That video sold me! Thats actually an incredible difference - time to find my old xbox controller I haven't used for some years! Thanks :)

It's much better than 2022 with a controller.

I lost patience last year as the car control was frustrating as hell last year, car would spin randomly, was very twitchy and just never felt like you had control of the car.

This year its much better, if you do start to lose it, drift etc you can generally catch it and regain control. You feel more in control with wheel spin, throttle response and it just feels drastically more playable and a more enjoyable experience.

The rain was better in older versions from like 2012 or whenever it was tbh, f1 23 has probably the worst iteration of rain yet. Rain drops on helmet are low resolution and it’s far too easy to see when behind a car (not to mention how it’s still far too grippy/easy to drive). Can understand them not making rain hard to drive in as it’s a casual game but they had the rain visuals/visibility bang on years back when it was near impossible to see when behind a car, now they’ve dumbed it down and made it even easier.

Think that's my biggest gripe - you have a train of 10 cars and there's pretty much full visibility. It's not realistic at all for a game that's trying to be a simulator.

It's certainly much better on controller, you can be much more precise than last years game and the traction is much easier (last year was mad, you at best could hold your quali position off the line, usually lost them and having to super late brake to recover). Whether or not last years could have been patched with this I don't know, I am suspicious of the physics changes in these games, I think they just mess around with a few sliders per release nothing more (in physics dept). I usually buy these at christmas for half price, I only bought it this year because of the improvement in controller and I'm pretty happy with it.

One thing that is bugging me is when you win (or finish on the podium I think) it doesn't play the F1 theme anymore. I loved that touch, is there a setting to turn it back on or have they just removed it :(
