F1 2023

Has anyone played the F1 Manager game - if so, any good?

Got the first one, it was very crap and basic with no depth and dunce tier pre programmed AI that wasn’t even capable of reacting to things that happened in the race.

Fully expecting the same again this year. Hard swerve imo, devs are shady as hell as well.

Have played the trial. It is better, and traction in high speed and low speed corners is much better and easier to deal with on a controller.

Medium speed sweeping bends are still tricky I think and there isn't as much grip there as they should be. Turn 7 in Canada for example is tough, and the AI seem to just be able to almost floor it through that bend.

Well as that's rather emphatic, I'll definitely give this a miss! Thanks. :)

The new one is due out in the next few weeks and will probably be an improvement of sorts but if you’re looking for the f1 equivalent of football manager than you will be disappointed as it’s pretty basic in all areas, it’s also designed for consoles/joypads so the interface leaves a lot to be desired.

Yep, very disappointed, couldn't save mid race, and they were gonna drop support pretty early on before a huge backlash, I won't be getting the next one

Meh... it was merely fine. But with the new one coming, looks like they've added such desperately needed things as (checks notes)... helmet cam... Oh.

Better off getting Motorsport Manager tbh. Has more depth.

Quite enjoying the trial now. It's certainly better than 22. You don't seem to get mugged on every straight, and the AI overall seems better at yielding when you overtake rather than just always causing a crash.

The throttle is easier to control on a controller, but mid speed sweeping bends still take a lot of skill/precise work.

I hate how sensitive kerbs and any space beyond the white line is (this has always been the case with these games but perhaps seems even worse in this one).

It's almost impossible to use the kerbs in any way as they unsettle the car far too much and acceleration is impossible if any wheel is touching them. I feel that this lacks realism a bit as the real cars/drivers definitely make use of the kerbs a lot and it doesn't appear to affect their traction much.

There appears to be win related bug on online ranking play.
Twice I’ve missed out on a win, finishing 2nd in a race and a lucky slow player gets the win

Bug : Sometimes a player at the back suddenly gets teleported 55 seconds into the lead.
Happened on Silverstone just now - I was leading and a player is 55secs ahead of me. I was lapping 2-3 seconds per lap quicker but couldn’t catch them :(.

Just downloaded this on EaPlay and was hoping to use my joystick rather than a fiddly controller or keys but I can't get it to recognise it even though it works ok in Windows 11 controller settings and in other driving games
Any ideas Thanks

I might pick this up for the Xbox. It's really pleasing to hear that they've improved the physics engine. The cars did feel sluggish and detached in previous games and it was very hard to catch the car when it let go.

Really enjoying this year's game. Pit assist aside (since I have no clue where the line is on most tracks) playing without assists and doing ok. Feels much more stable than last year's game.

Picked this up with a fanatec base and wheel cheap. Does anyone k ow what the best settings are as it feels like I need 2 or 3 rotations of the wheel to make turns. Dd cos base and the McLaren gt3 wheel if that makes a diff.

In the older F1 games, with my Logitech wheel, I'd need to set the degrees of rotation to 360 in the actual Logitech software.
Do Fanatec wheels have similar software to do this?
