Got slaughtered by a minute, no way can I get close this season. he's in his 15th year, so probably got a few Hundred BHP more than me and I still can't buy engines.

You are still ahead of me!

I think this will be a season for development of my own chassis. Got some parts done, but now struggling to end up with an overall stable chassis.

I think I need to read the manual, and come up with some kind of calculator to get the best components.

Ahhhh, I was trying by upgrading one part, then adding it, then the next.

So I should wait untill all parts are upgraded, and switch completely to that?

basically yeah. if all parts are the same bar 1/2 you'll still have high stability. IF their differences aren't that much. just trial and error really. It maybe worth getting everything equal. then doing small upgrades per race, or just do big jumps and not bring a new chassis in for 5-6 weeks. personal preference

chippie its easy to get a stable chassis, just make all the components the same :)

:( which I can't do as I can't waste research points. As I have increased staff and facilities I get more research points and can't get the exact numbers I require :(

Good god, why did I not think of this earlier, rather than doing 100% do 90% or what ever gives teh required number Doh'

then you need to play around with how many assistants you have got, that will change the amount of points that you can allocate!

or dont increase one component per race

for example i am currently increasing 5 components to the same level over 1 race.

3 of them are using 20-24% of my staff each, he other two 10% (two race improvement) and 4% (5race improvement)

now over 1 race the varying percentages all mean a 10% improvement on each component, he only difference is the time taken to research the last two at 14% and 4% both of these still give a 10% increase but i will use testing to bring down the research times on those two probably to 1 race as well.

so its all about playing with the percentages to get the components where you want them to be in the time you want them to be there.

remember though its not till around he 60% plus mark when you will be using the chassis so plan long term.

my current stats for my chassis are 77/77/55/66 roughly across all components some are 1or 2% higher in one or two areas but that doesn't detract from stability.

what would would be if i developed one 90/90/80/80 component and stuck it in, that would kill me stability as its worked out on standard deviation from the mean somehow.

Yep putting this season down to development and cost savings.

As above, designing multiple parts and splitting the percentages, along with using testing to rapidly increase certain parts, is how i'm doing my designs atm. Dropped Ferr chassis (to save 1m per race) and back to using mine, and I think at the end of this season almost all parts will be around 55%, so getting there.

Engine all at 110% now, but dropped back to using a lower powered (cheaper to build) one for more cost savings. I shall not be sniffing podiums this season :)

I'm developing 1 at a time and adding them to teh car, I'm sure this is why I have 0.2 a lap on similar teams. 3 more parts, till I can save money and get rid of the chassis. Then I will probably split research, to further components.

I seem to be a solid 2nd team, over a minute behind the 1st team, but not a total disaster.

Aaaaaand i'm done with this. The novelty has worn off, i dont even use the calc. I just put random numbers in.

I will never go pro, so i will never get into high leagues as i automatically run an 80% disadvantage.. so theres no point.

Oh well!

well you can do very well without pro dampcat ? once you can buy in engines theres not that much difference in all honesty, developing yer own chassis and advanced components is critical. for example im in a league with boogymotors for like the 3rd time in a row. first race he was 40 seconds behind on is own engine, he bought one in and was only 15 seconds behind in the next race.

he uses his own chassis so he will be upgrading that as well, boom I develop a turbo over 3 races and it improves my laptimes by about .7 of a second and im obliterating him again.

or pay the fiver you tight wad and get pro :p

have been loving balancing my time between devloping for next season, and making sure i stay on top this season, i have just finished developing a KERS system, not that its legal this year, but good preperation for next year, and have just started work on my 110% chassis

I cant get pro, i dont have any form of payment ;) Its not that i cant afford it.

Can someone else start handing out pit calcs? Im still getting emails and i dont have it anymore.
