F1 Mugello test (1-3 May)

Having a quick look around McLaren have but Ferrari & RedBull don't say if its carbon-fibre. I think Williams have? Lotus have titanium. Force India says Mclaren gearbox so guessing they have the carbon one.

Can't see that happening, if this years car had been rubbish then maybe but I would expect him to re-sign with Mac

If he was having a bad start I would expect him to already be in talks with them.

But my thinking is that for Red Bull to let Webber go they must have someone better lined up... and I just can't see who that would be? The only top driver without a contract for next year is Hamilton, and none of the young Red Bull drivers have shown massive promise.

Perez is a Ferrari driver :)

Red Bull have already said no interest in Lewis and they will use their already signed drivers if needed, but Skeeter ignores that :D

I don't ignore it, I just don't see why they would?

Would you choose Vergne or Ricciardo over Webber? Neither of the TR drivers have set the world alight yet this year.

For Webber to go to Ferrari for a year or 2 means that Ferrari want him more than Red Bull want him, and for me this opens up 2 more interesting questions:

Who is it that Red Bull want more than Webber?
And why do Ferrari want Webber more than any of the other drivers they could pick from?

When we were talking about Ferrari replacing Massa a while back a number of names were bounded about, but I don't think anyone ever mentioned Webber...

I just find it all a bit odd. If you could throw in some other variables like Hamilton being on the market, and Perez already being signed for someone else then it might make a bit more sense. But as things sit now, I must say I don't really get it.

I can't imagine the most vocal driver about being 'number 2' will work well in the team with the strongest number 1 and 2 driver policy either :D

Kimi's contract with Lotus is 2 years. I doubt he would be interested in a Ferrari seat though.

So who else is 'available'? Hamilton doesn't have a contract for next year, neither does Webber or Massa. Schumacher has an option for one that isn't yet confirmed. Thats about it up the front end isn't it? What about Rosberg?

Yep (I belive I called that one the moment a Red Bull logo appeared on the side of his rally car). However, if that was RBR's plan you would be expecting them to keep Webber for 2013 and sign Kimi for 2014. Letting Webber go suggests RBR have other plans....

It does seem a bit strange, I would imagine Kimi will have get out clauses in his contract... If the plan was for him to end up at Red Bull perhaps they expected him to need more time to adjust back and are bringing it forward.

Or it may well be that it's simply Webbers choice to move to Ferrari and not that RBR have got someone else.

I think there is more chance of Kimi ending up at Red Bull than Hamilton.

3 months ago it wouldn't have been that clear cut, but given that McLaren have produced a good car and Hamilton has had a good, if not spectacular, start to the season then I agree its looking far more likely that Lewis will stay at McLaren.

Kimi in a Red Bull would be great. I think the team's culture would suit him well too. They seem to be the polar opposite to the Corporate styled McLaren and to some degree Ferrari.

Or it could just be a rumour started by Webber's management in order for Red Bull to get talking to him, much like Jenson using Ferrari to get McLaren waking up :D

Webber has survived Red Bull and their just as strong no1 role for Seb, so going to Ferrari would not be much different.

This is highly likely.

Red Bull are nowhere near as focused on 1 driver as Ferrari. Ferrari would also be far less tolerant of a 2nd driver being openly vocal about it in the same way Webber has been at Red Bull.

Not the most productive day.

I think they are very much focused around Seb, just like Ferrari and Alonso.

Webber rolled over and signed a new deal, he accepts he is a no2.
