Not really...? Most people who disagreed with you (myself included) are quite surprised by the McLaren high nose, but it's not a *stepped* nose, is it?

Like I said back in February:

Even if they decided to abandon 3 years of development and go with a HIGH nose, it wont NEED to be stepped because their tub is ALREADY low enough for a nose sticking out completely horizontally to be inside the required dimensions.

The theory I've read is that they've probably been experimenting with it in the wind tunnel for some time and just wanted some real world corroboration on its performance. The high nose was apparently only on the car for a few laps.

I think its more a case of use getting a much more in depth view of Merc's changes through arknor than for any other team.
i dont know about other teams as i dont really follow them to well.

but last year mercedes barely developed the car at all so its a massive step forward for them

They still moved to doing what other teams are, getting more air under the car. Seems they are interested in the higher nose no matter how much years of development with the low nose, which suggests it's not such a massive issue to give up 3 years, and must be something worth looking at as it would never reach the on car stage if they did not think it was to benefit them.

Yep. Let's just hope it starts to deliver the goods. With Ferrari struggling there is a gap at the top that needs filling. If Merc don't take it then Lotus just might.
