Looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes. No doubt they'll be lapping 5 seconds off the pace though as they do their systems checks etc..

they have done around 400km in the new car so they should be upto speed on their program by now but i doubt they will be going for all out laptimes, it would suprise me if anyone does out of the top teams.

w03 is their since 2 days already
private test on sunday and a filming day today

Is there any difference between private and public testing days except them obviously being private?

I imagine they have to pay for the private hire of the track?

Otherwise I can't think why testing in public amongst the all the cameras pointing at the new cars and with competitors looking, not to mention a potentially cluttered track - why any team would prefer to attend a public day.

Yeah I've seen that video. From my limited understanding it's a fascinating concept and I hope it works well for them. The video someone linked where every time the car was in a corner the camera cut away from the front end would seem to suggest Mercedes definitely don't want to give away anything in the meantime.

I just assumed it was somebody's best guess? Do we even know if such a part would be legal? I'm assuming it is otherwise why would Mercedes waste time running a part they can't use?

10:12 There is industrious looking at and poking about of the rear of the car.

10:11 Now there are about 10 marshals on the scene too.

10:11 A people carrier arrives and a swarm of Caterham personnel hop out.

10:11 Fair to say the AUTOSPORT Live team revel in unnecessarily detailed descriptions of red flag situation clean-ups.

10:10 The marshals admire the Caterham.

LOL
