F1 Testing 2012 - Week 2, Barcelona

laughable is hamilton still beeing at mclaren when hes ramming his own team mate because he cant beat him..

never seen someone so rattled and hes a proven lier and a cheat, i feel sorry for poor massa aswell.

oh wait hamiltons mirrors dont work but everyone elses do? LOL LAUGHABLE

When did Hamilton ram his own team-mate?

Hamilton certainly is a liar and cheat...but then all the great sportsmen of our time are.

The reason for this is that they blur the lines between what is acceptable and what isn't. When they are cheating, they actually talk themselves into believing that what they are doing is right.

I actually held high hopes for Hamilton, after he lied in Australia 2009, as it showed that he was prepared to do whatever it takes to win and gain an advantage over the opposition. However, since then, we haven't seen him do anything untoward (except for repeatedly ram into Massa).

Hamilton is similar to MSc, in that in order to get the best out of him, he must have the entire team focused around him. When he doesn't get this, he lacks the spark. This is why I believe that if he is to rescue his career, he must move out of McLaren and to a team which will pander to his needs. Renault (or whatever they are calling themselves these days) might be a good move, though he would need to gain assurances that Renault will put their full weight behind him.

Lol what?

Now your just making stuff up.

he's probably talking about that time where he tried to overtake Jenson down the start/finish straight and jenson either ignored him or didnt see him and forced him off the road.

it was pouring with rain and its well know that the mclaren mirrors are very flappy, so i'm saying it was a racing incident. if it was in good conditions it would have been 100% jensons fault, but if it was in good conditions i doubt that jenson would have shoved hamilton off the road in the first place

yes but considering the car why is webber having a lot of 4 place finishs? should have been easy 1-2's
Well... except that the Red Bull had two other teams (especially the McLaren) competing around its positions. Whereas the Mercedes never had anybody near them. Way better than the teams below, but nowhere near good enough to catch the big three, so of course they're going to have a tiny gap between their two drivers.

Fifth was basically the best the Mercs could hope for in any race - take Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Button and Alonso, assume one of them will inevitably have to retire, profit. Even when your beloved MSc got his fourth place, guess what? It was because two of the above didn't finish.

in canda? he would have been second or first if
the race wasnt delayed forever.
the safety car period didnt last forever.
drs wasnt enabled while the track was still wet.

and he schooled ramilton at monza.

RBR had a clear advantage over mclaren for atleast half the season vettel was just cruising nearly all the time and only ever pushed when he needed to.

webber was constantly finishing 30-40 seconds behind vettel during the early part of the season when he should easily have been finishing second

maybe the airbox fire wouldnt have happened if he didnt anti stall at the start you mean?

Not at all, disregarding the fire, Monaco was the only GP where he qualified well to be in a position to put his good starts to his advantage.

All the other races he had to use the good starts to get himself out of the midfield and unfortunately when you're in that position every race you will tend to find yourself in trouble more times than not.

As a fan of his, I am using this season as a clean slate with a hopefully more competitive car, so will just have to see what happens.

He was implying that Hamilton should have been kicked out of McLaren for ramming Button. Lol.

Just, lol.

More analysis of testing so far.....

Key points

Webber (Thursday):

Webber did 4 stops, and his pace was 0.0s, 0.0s, 0.6s, 0.6s, 1.2s. This is essentially equivalent to Vettel’s run backing up that Red Bull have a nice consistent baseline to work from.

Hamilton (Wednesday):

As detailed before, Hamilton appears to be repeating stints. His four stops give five stints with pace 0.0s, -0.2s, +1.0s, +2.2s, +2.2s. Similarly to Button, stints 3 and 4 are repeats of stint 2. If we assume that he is running about a stint heavier than Button’s Friday run, the first and fourth stints are almost identical. It looks like McLaren are concentrating on part of the race at a time at this stage of testing. The degradation seems higher than the Red Bull, but they are running longer stints. This looks pretty close between Red Bull and McLaren – but we can’t know what they are hiding.

Massa (Friday):

In complete contrast to McLaren, instead of running only heavy, Ferrari have run only light. Massa’s three stints (for 41 laps) were -3.0s, -2.4s and -2.4s. If we assume that this means that there was no refuelling, and that the car was able to run only those 41 laps, then the pace difference fuel-corrected to a 66 lap race is 2.75s. If this were the case, then this would give Ferrari a 0.25s pace advantage over Red Bull. It is likely that both of the cars were fuelled more highly, so in reality we cannot tell which is faster, but it does seem likely that the Ferrari is reasonably competitive. This evidence suggests that we will not see the Ferrari too far adrift come Melbourne.

Schumacher (Thursday):

The new Mercedes was able to perform a race simulation remarkably quickly out of the box, and Schumacher’s four stints were paced at +1.0s, +0.7s, +1.8s, +1.8s. There is a possibility of a refuel after the second stint, but this pace does seem a little slower than the first three teams.
