F1 Testing 2014: Week 2 Bahrain

I would laugh if it's a massive Troll by RBR/Renault

I don't think anyone would have their car on fire for the lol :)

We should know by the end of the week. And Renault have already said "it's not the power train"

I bet the teams aren't too chuffed with testing in the middle east. Ok, so yeah, they get good high temp testing, but it must be a nightmare for them to ship parts out their quickly. When its in Europe, they can express the parts out there in less than half a day... Middle East... thats a day at least.

Could have sworn the BBC was reporting today that Renault still had issues with the batteries (which is surely part of the power train?)

Renault engineering chief Remi Taffin said he believed Renault had made "quite a step", adding: We could run the power-unit as we wanted. It's still not the level we want but at least we gave a baseline."
And he seemed to imply Red Bull's problems were car-related rather than anything to do with the engine, saying: "Basically we were waiting for them. We went out when they decided to go out and we finished when they decided to finish."

It wasnt what I was thinking of, and even that quote can be read different ways.

To early to tell, but it will be nice to see other teams at the front for a change

If Red Bull do less than 100 laps this whole test they will be so far behind (IMO) they they will struggle to catch up before the European season starts. But that's ok because if Bernie gets his way it won't matter as long as they are in it come seasons end because of the stupid points double thing. There should be double points for the first race too, then watch Red Bull go mental at the very idea.

Vettel said in an interview (on Formula1.com) that it was the brakes which caused the spin and it was the sitting still which caused the fire.

There's been lots of complaints from many teams about issues with the new braking systems to be fair.

The invincible Red Bull isn't looking so invincible this year, is it? :)

I think we're going to see a lot more technical retirements than in recent years; which is nice.

Serious reply - I think they value the more representative temperature conditions - better than a cool Jerez or Barcelona.

Semi-serious reply - Marussia at Jerez didn't have a clue where their car was at the start of the test. We had breakfast with the team and it was 'somewhere in France, 6 1/2 hours away". Then it was "late tonight", then "it'll be at the track tomorrow morning".

Maybe airfreight is more reliable than a truck :D

How longs the flight to Bahrain? 5 hours? The only hold up is customs.

I can't wait for the first start of the season. Vettel coming to a stop on the grid..... then Charlie doing the longest red 5 lights yet, and the RBR catching fire before the race starts :p
