F1 Testing 2015: Week 1 Jerez

The McLaren has broken down again. Not looking good for them.

You sure? Can't see any dramas reported on the Autosport feed other than a stall coming out for Button before his installation lap. Engine is being warmed up now so I'd expect him back out soon.

I know testing is meaningless in terms of performance but I'm really hoping ferrari are better this year, It's been tough the last 6 years watching us struggle. I'm positive that the car is better than last year but I guess it depends on the relative improvements of the other teams. I think everyone knows Mercedes are still going to dominate though.

BEN ANDERSON: "Lots of work still going on at McLaren. Bodywork is still off the car so it's not coming out any time soon, it seems."

Looks like they got it working again

Mclaren twitter/media handling is again poor. They did the old "it's wet so we'll just wait till it's drier" routine.

For a car/team screaming for laps it's pretty odd to not take a car out that is ready, when they would be pushing a pace that is no risk in the slightest on the track conditions. Then Anderson is saying the car had pieces off and work being done, which doesn't exactly sound ready to go.

Hamilton and others are now on dry tires, he's done 30 laps, but Mclaren are waiting for the dry..... because damp was going to be an issue when they are potting around doing 1:45+ lap times, come on.

Mclaren media relations is all so irritating, we could have video of the car on fire dying on track and Mclaren twitter would say everything was looking great. Other teams can mock themselves, post actual realistic updates and have fun with other teams, Mclaren media is conducted by Comical Ali.

10:15 BEN ANDERSON has overheard a Mercedes mechanic speculating that the car might have "run out of jungle juice".

10:14 McLaren watch: BEN ANDERSON tells us that the team is hoping to be out in 5-10 minutes. It had to take the floor off of the MP4-30 to check something relating to the Honda engine.

lol, it ran out of jungle juice. So Mclaren twitter were just talking crap about waiting for the dry, who could have guessed it. You can pretty much take their twitter info to mean the opposite. "we've fixed all problems, expect good run tomorrow".... translation "something went wrong, we tried to fix it, will probably not run tomorrow".

Or....and I know I am incredibly biased....everything was ok....and then they found something that needed investigation......I know I know, I am a dreamer ;)

pic of the mercedes shows the rear tyre covered in grass/mud and its at a funny angle looks like a spin, hopefully not something failing to cause it tho.

zomg, they did a half fast lap and wow, Button so much faster than Alonso.. I told you he was over rated :p

Wonder how far the engine was turned up for that. Big step for the car/engine.
