I was just thinking the same. Trying to gee the players up. So far we have been poor today. I'm suprised.

Saving your best players is all fine and dandy but there's very few games bigger than an FA cup semi, every team should be putting it's best side out this stage of the comp. Try to win the game 1st then take off your big guns to rest them or at least have them on the bench if needed.

To be fair UTD's first team seems dead on it's feet atm and need the break.

We only have one left back in our entire squad and he's injured. I'm not saying Shearer didn't make mistakes because he did but there wasn't many other options for the LB position.

Surely he could have stuck a CB or DM there to do a job in a 4-4-2 though? Hutton and Lennon had all the space in the world against Duff. Just a shame that they had no-one decent to cross to.

edit- playing Martins, Owen and Viduka all at once is our best team, you must have a short memory because that's the same strikeforce that helped us beat you 4-1 last season.

I don't know enough about the Newcastle squad to really comment but only Martins turned up today. Neither Owen or Viduka looked interested. It might have been your best team last season but this one? Not on today's performance. Butt was the real difference between the sides last season anyway. He destroyed us.

Hardly suprising really seeing's as the only forward we have is the terminally ill saha. If we actually had some forwards and the ability to play cahill and arteta in their natural roles we would be a different team.
