Facebook on the decline ?

Yup i stoped useing it too, closed my account and just opened a random one to keep those invited to my wedding this year informed of any inportant info then closeing that down afterwards. Full of mind numbing useless crap, and people feeling the need to share every thought :\

Not on the website but on my phone, i use the facebook app on my phone probably 80% of the time and it has LOADS of "suggested pages" and "suggested posts" which are adverts.

Ahh this is one reason why I removed the app from the phone. If I want to use it on the phone, il just access via the website. Easier. :)

Just been keeping up with the life of an ex school mate who's girlfriend was using his Facebook account to talk to his Dad and Mum as he was 'inside' for 3 years then all the hype about him getting out and how she and his kids are looking forward to it, then him on Facebook declaring his undieing love for his family who supported him over the past three years, fast forward 4 weeks and he's dumped her and moved in with another girl and now he just whinges she plays Candy Crush all day even at dinner.

It's like Eastenders boom boom boom de boom de boom

i dont see ads unless i use the work laptop.. its crazy!

tbh i havent been on fb on pc more than twice in 2 years, i have no 'big pic' at all

i sometimes go on using a 3rd party mobile app for groups etc but never update my status or whatever

it was ok back in 2004

I love seeing how peoples drama play outs on facebook

I use it for:

Pictures posted by others.
Events (By far the most useful feature).
Talking to some people.

I don't post status updates any more though

I used to use it, but with the amount of adverts and idiotic posts like 'like this post and win an ipad' or 'do you want to play candy crush' I don't use it much

however......since I got my Nexus 4 I've been using Google+ a fair but and once you actually get the hang of it it's brilliant

Only use it for the chat feature since everyone I know ditched traditional chat services. I also sometimes like looking at my friends holiday pics if they've been somewhere interesting. The rest is BS.

Too many ads now. They are obtrusive. At least on mobile devices. Too many "Like this Picture if you want to Cure Cancer" type posts doing the rounds. I would happily pay for these not to be visible.

Yeah this. Plus I had potential employers wanting to 'friend' me. Nothing to hide on my page, but what's my family photos got to do with potential employers? I thought that LinkedIn was the platform for professionals? In 2010, I finally bailed after 3 years FB usage. I got fed up of 'friends' not replying to my private/wall messages and yet they posted status updates every 20 minutes saying they're feeding their cat or they're going to watch X Factor tonight. Very impersonal experience I thought. At least with emails, instant messaging and good old fashioned telephone it's 1-2-1.

This pretty much, same old posts just come form the same people.

"I'm amazing look at me, today I cured cancer and climbed Mt Everest before runnign10 marathons in a row and winning a Nobel prize before breakfast"

"I'm such an unlucky person, my life is worthless, woe is me, but I am not looking for pity or attention, honest".

"Here is my baby", 3 mins later "my baby + cat", "2 mins later "baby + dad", 5 mins later "baby asleep"

"Watching the game, go unknown football/basketball/american fotoball team team"

"Cure for Cancer/Aids"

"Life changing quote here", "This heroic child survived cancer and ran a marathon, what do you do with your worthless life"

"We are all destroying the planet, recycle your bum-fluff to make clothes for starving Africans".

"My dog asleep in-front of TV"

"The wicked-witch is dead, even although i wasn't even conceived back then and have no idea of her policies I know I must hate her"

Are you sure you're not talking about General Discussion?

If it was GD then it would look similar but there would be load of posts about a black gay transgender polish Muslim single parent that is scrounging off the state and taking derr jjjobs.

this must be some trick they play on all those that upgrade to the latest app. The older apps don't have any ads at all.

LOL!

Go go Daily Mail GD.

Don't forget guys who smash pasty, likes pancakes and Hovis, writing "worst ....... thread ever" or "spec me a ...." , in before the lock :p

It does seem to be slowly in decline :( which is a pain in the rear.

Why are people incapable of using it how they want to. Using Facebook is by far the easiest way to organise events. But several people have left with rubbish reasons. Which means going back to the old style of organising with isn't great.
