A spin-off of the embarrassing clothing thread.

What fads do you remember when you were growing up?

Does anyone remember those things that would straighten out like a ruler but when you hit them against your wrist they turned into a bracelet, or did I just imagine it?

Slap bands, still a thing now.

Yo-Yo's
Trainers/boots with massive tongues on
Spokey Dokeys
Glow socks
Global Hypercolour t-shirts
Football stickers
Conkers

Sweat bands, Coke\7 up yo-yos and break dancing were large when I was at school, oh and I remember watching Rocky on one of the 3 TV channels we had at the time and then for the next 3 or so months everyone at school happened to have a squash ball in their hands.

In primary school, Beyblade + Yu-Gi-Oh cards, vans skate shoes.

Don't really remember any fads that are sticking out for me at secondary school I'm sure I'll remember some. Chav culture was a thing then but I tended to give all that a wide berth.

We had all sorts of course, but this just reminded me of thoe alien egg things. There was always a rumour that if you put two types together, they could make a baby one.

Getting frustrated even thinking about those things now ha. The amount of time I tried stupid stuff like that with toys based on ridiculous rumours.

The Internet will save a lot of frustration but remove a lot of wonder at the same time I guess.

Yo-yo's, I was over the moon to finally got a "spinner" it was bright orange. I think they were called spinners at least.

Tucking your shoe laces (tied loosely) under your shoe tongue, but I still do that now, looks good.

Tucking trousers into your socks, very guility of that one lol.

Pogs were another, I had hundreds of them.

Coke spinners/yo-yos stick in my mind. Mainly because I managed to break someone’s window with one when I was about 12 (accidentally) and the police showed up at my house.... To say my dad was unimpressed would be a major understatement.

Oh there have been loads, but the one that sticks out in my mind is Tamagotchi. I think it's the first craze I can remember where they were sold out absolutely everywhere. Couldn't get hold of them for toffee.

Oh man, yes.

Yoyos, pogs, pokemon cards. What a time to be alive.
