FAIL!

Not an expensive fail moment but embarrasing fail moment all the same...

I was cleaning my car soon after i'd got it trying to make it as immaculate as possible and it was a fairly warm day so i had the automated windows open in the car. Anyway, while cleaning the inside of the car i was kind of trying different buttons to see what they did but then when i finished cleaning the car i put my drivers side window up fine, but then i couldnt get the passenger side window to move at all.

I was about to start trying to get in touch with a mechanic to sort it out as it was starting to get late as i thought the window motor must have gone in it or something but then my girlfriends 10 year old kid came out of the house and asked if he could help me figure out the problem. I was trying to just humour him and not hurt his feelings while i tried for a few more mins to figure out the problem taking the door panel out before he said "i was in a taxi once and the taxi driver pressed that button there to lock all the other windows except his one!". So i flicked the switch he was pointing to and guess what? the passenger window worked again :o

Never ceases to amaze me what people will pit down the wrong holes.

Bonnets really should be sealed. Maybe an electronic bonnet release, and an iDrive like thing asks you engine trivia questions before you can get in...

Definitely not, what if the car has no or a dead battery in, how will you open it then ? What if the thing breaks?

Don't understand why anti freeze would break the windscreen jet though .

topping up with posh millers oil (£30 for 5l)
driving 30 miles towards home (£5 fuel)
not putting the oil filler cap on (priceless)

Heh my Dad managed to do that on his old Fiesta. It wasn't a 30 mile trip though, it was just before driving 200 miles each way to pick my brother up from Uni.. IIRC it wasn't discovered until back home :(

Was slightly concerned about the mr2 as the oil pressure guage wasn't where I'd expect it to be and sure enough, it was low so I pulled in to the garage and bought a litre, topped her up and set off home. 30 miles home. Was more and more worried that the guage had not dropped after the fill up and then I noticed pulling off the a19 that there was smoke. Much smoke. Home is only 5 mins away, cold and wet Jan evening too so got back ok. Yup, left the oil cap on top of the engine! it survived fine and is still going to this day.
