Well I failed my driving test yesterday, but its how i failed that has gotten me so annoyed even 24 hours on. Basically I had done a perfect run with only 3 minors, but on the second to last corner some elderly people were crossing the road and so I had to stop. As i was about to continue some teenagers stepped in to the road infront of me, got 1/4 of the way across and stopped as they noticed I was about to move off. They looked at me and as a reaction all I did was partially move my hand off the wheel to acknoldege them and they carried on across the road. At the end of the test the examiner said It was a very relaxing drive but ive got to fail you as you signaled to those pedestrians.

Is this rearly a major and so a fail? Seems alittle harsh tbh.

Yeah, you're not allowed to signal pedestrians to cross as they could get hit by traffic on the other side of the road, or something similar to that.

Urgh that's so harsh! Unlucky mate. Nearly as lame as what happened to my Brother; he failed coming out of the test centre and the examiner said nothing and made him continue ;)

Sounds harsh, but I failed my motorbike test with a similar thing.

The day before a women went through a set of red lights and I went flying over the roof.
On the test a lorry flashed me and I didn't go so failed for not making progress. Seeing as the highway code says he was just making me aware of him it's hash. But there's absolutely sod all you can do.
Good luck on the next one.

When I was back in college I was driving home and a learner driver tried to pull out of a junction which forced me to stop. That road is the start of the test so I knew he had failed about 5 seconds into his test :S

LOL. First time I took my test, there was a girl pulling out the test centre in front of me.. hesitated and caused a passing car to brake harshly. Her examiner made her U-Turn and failed the test in a record 10 seconds.

To OP: that does sound pretty harsh, but I was told time and time again by my instructor to never signal pedestrians or other drivers as this would fail you in the test.

I expereinced the same thing a week ago.. I feel so sorry for them :o

I would have argued my face blue about that.

That's the problem with driving tests, you have to learn how to pass the test, not how to drive if you were on your own. I got a minor on my test because the guy picked a really awful place for my reverse around a corner and made me block the road. As soon as I was straight, I went to move off because there were cars queuing up behind me, but he gave me a funny look so I asked and he insisted that I go further back. At least I passed though.

oooh Betty, i made a boo boo!! :p

I backed into a fence on my reverse park on my first test, what's worse is that it was the test centre car park where it happened and it was the end of the test, insta-fail.

You can't do anything.. I did try arguing. But at the end of the day it's next to imposable to get it turned around.

Even though they teach you not to flash as it confuses people, because it could either mean "Watch out im here" or "Here, i'm letting you go" which could end up in a collision...

They failed you.

Bah! :(
