Bleek, i remember reading about a fix which involved running the game in windowed mode but using a program to force it fullscreen. Might be worth a try. it was a fix for freezing/pausing.
Can't remember where i saw it but i think it was on the nexus.

Couldn't say mate, i have steam on another drive anyway, so i never encountered that

Haven't got mine on my OS drive, i just shifted it onto another drive and called a folder 'Program Files' just to put everything in to keep it tidy, hope it doesn't affect it.

EDIT: Right got up and running, not sure which mods have ingame options or not but guess i'll flick through all the readmes.

Can you launch through steam? Yes it would seem ;p

Looks like I'm definetely going to have to find the options to tone this difficultly down a bit. Just spent ages trying to get into the supa dupa mart and constantly getting owned lol. There is about 6 raiders outside it and they nearly always all come at once, managed to get about 4 at most but generally I get owned after 1 or 2.

Went around further past the mart and found what looks like the back of an hgv, at it I ran into a super mutant basher and destroyer

Its certainly challenging :p still waiting to find a quest I can actually achieve!

Maybe I'll take the super mutants to visit the mart, they can clear it for me :D

Yeah, FWE is pretty unforgiving early on:p

Have you tried playing around with FWE's ingame options?

No shame in lowering the difficulty;)

Remember run and hide tactics are perfectly acceptable! :D

Really surprised I only lasted 9 hours with this game originally, have started to clock up quite a few now and really enjoying it. The game is massive!

Just added this mod - Destruction. Looks great. Basically makes a lot of the environments in the game destructable. I especially like the bit about being able to shoot lights out, should really change the game!

In a nut shell this is what this mod does, it essentially gives objects a health value. As you shoot the object and it reaches a certain health percentage it will change its looks, explode, or even both. This will help in creating a destroyable environment.

The overall feel for this mod that I'm going for is a very good immersion experience to help provide more realism and entertainment to the Fallout 3 environment.

Most of the time you will not even be able to notice that this mod is working. That's the way I want it. Overall the experience you get from this mod is better combat and more realistic combat that you will be able to better strategize in. It's cool too now be able to kill a raider by shooting the Nuka-Cola vending machine right beside him and have it blow him to pieces. Or to even drop a fission battery on a nearby table and wait for a super-mutant to walk by and have it blow off his arm after only shooting the battery once. Not to mention just being able to see more explosions.

This now will introduce a brand new aspect into the fallout world. You can now turn off of the lights, with your weapons that is. You can now shoot out lights and make the world a little darker. Perfect for all of you stealthy guys out there wanting to sneak up on some raiders. Even sneak through the enclave lines if you so choose. Make sure you keep a silenced pistol with you at all times.

Very easy to install as it is packaged as a FOMOD, and it also features in the description an example load order to guide you (which includes FOOK2 which helps)

run, hide, used grenades, tried to blow em up using the bus. most of the weapons I have seem pretty poor at range so I have to get close so I can at least hit em (or at least save some ammo)... plus they are out the front of the mart so there is limited places to run to =P

I'll have another go later :D

If you are not getting on with FWE, isn't it a fOMOD? if it is, you can just deactivate it. You would lose a lot of great options, but it would greatly turn down teh difficulty

Also, the Ultimate Perk Pack i mentioned earler gives you lots of great perks later in the game whoch can make the combat really easy even on quite hard. Some great sniper perks

If you are looking for more realism in your game, it might be worth cosnidering a mod which adds hunger/thirst/sleep requirements to the game. A hardcore mode was included in New Vegas, but there is not one in vanilla Fallout3.

These are the 2 most commonly used realism mods

If you use FWE, then there is already a realism mod included in that. If oyu do not use it, these are the best ones-

Personally, i use RI_Primary Needs. As well as adding a hunger/thirst system, it also changes the injury system, so that injuries are more realistic. Stimpacks do not directly give you 50-60 health they heal over time and can not heal damaged limbs, the only way to do that is to get to a doctor, bit ther are new chems such as morphine, which negate the effects suffered, but do not heal them. IMO, it has the balance just right. I could not imagine playing without this now!
It also adds the ability to cook meat before you eat it.You will need to dl the dlc packs for this if you want dlc items to work with it, it also needs patches for MMM, FOOK2 and FWE if you want to use it with that

Imp's More Complex Needs
does the same thing but a little deeper by adding not just hunger but protein requirements and similar.
This is a hunger/thirst/sleep simulator that independently tracks blood alcohol content, hydration, calories, protein, nutrients, and the degree of fullness. Hunger/Thirst, Sleep, and Blood Alcohol tracking can be individually disabled, paused, and reset via a menu item in the aid section of your pipboy. Your character will gain or lose weight depending on diet and the amount of activity, through both body fat and skeletal muscle.
Bottle that water is great with both mods!

Just had my first encounter with a Super Mutant Gargantuan... what a ridiculous thing that is!

I hid under a building so he couldn't hit me, took over 1,000 Mini Gun rounds and 20+ frag grenades!

I turned them off straight away. Not really inkeeping with the rest f the game especially early on imo. I might turn them back on now though.
Same with Behemoths. There are 6 in the vanilla game but MMM gives you the chance of randomly meeting them. I turned it off to start with, but turned it on half way through.

Fat Man for the WIN. I find mini nukes everywhere! I took out the Talon Company HQ or something last night. I think I need to increase dificulty because I can be out in the wasteland fighting for several in-game days without dying, only really return for ammo.
Just downloading the Big Town Overhall, as Big Town really is crap. I'll install it after rescuing the captives at the Police station to try and keep in with the game.

One of the best features of MMM is how it changes the creatures behaviour. As well as adding creatures, it increases spawns and makes them hunt echother. It also makes them more realistic as in they will not always attack you and will flee when about to die.

i just had this moment-

Albino Radscorpion comes at me. They are very tough and hard to kill!

i put a few rounds in it...... Hey, Get back here!!!!

:D

Deathclaw Matriach wasn't so obliging though

Nights are about the right darknes now that i have Dynamic weather installed. Didn't use it before because i thought that Enhanced weather was enough tbh.

Ah, I keep forgetting to get my Fat Man repaired - never used it!

Do you know if Big Town Overhaul is in '****'?

I decided to get MMM!
Part of MMM was included in Project Beauty but when I select it on FOMM the game crashes so I'm guessing I need MMM installed.

This is gonna be epic, the Deathclaw Alpha's look insane, when I find it, I'll be getting the Fatman out!
