Fallout 3 Revisit - What Mods?

Hi everyone

So, with the announcement yesterday of Fallout 4 coming sometime soon, I've decided I'd like to revisit Fallout 3. With that in mind, there are so many mods available that it's almost impossible to know where to start with them! So I put it to you, fellow OcUKers. What suggestions do you have for the best mods to enhance the experience of a replay?

I think there might be a thread for this somewhere? Or perhaps that's for New Vegas? I seem to remember forum member Pighardia advising on this in the past.

Yeah I had a search through but couldn't find any obviously titled threads. There's one for New Vegas but I wasn't sure if the suggestions in there were useful for FO3.

The New Vegas one is probably the one I was referring to then. I don't know enough to advise much myself. Perhaps visit the Nexus and see which are most popular by number of downloads as a start?

The three most essential for me were always:

Fellout
Fallout Street Lights
Weapon Mod Kits

:)

edit: Also use NMC's HD textures.

Interesting topic - Last time I tried to play Fallout 3 I spent more time messing with mods than playing. Everything seemed to get over complicated pretty fast.

DansGaming had a decent looking mod list here, I haven't tried them personally but it looked good from what I saw. This may also be useful.

Edit: This is a list for New Vegas.

I installed it the other day but it won't work in Windows 7. Gutted :(

It does, you just have to install the GWFL client and make a few changes to the .exe files that the game uses to run. There's a guide over on Steam. I'll see if I can find it and post it up for you :)

I wanted to purchase Fallout 3 but it says on steam it's not optimised so i won't be buying it.

By that it means that by default it only uses 2 cores of your processor. I'm pretty sure you can change one digit in the files somewhere and then it suddenly makes use of all 4 cores (if you have them of course, most likely) 'cause the game released when Core 2 Duo's where still around.
